New one on me too.
Nice rifle but why on earth would you want a poaching scene on your rifle?

Funny how things have changed. Winchester/USRA put out a gazillion commemorative Model 94s of one type or another and for awhile dealers could hardly give them away.

That's wild that they had a jack lighting scene right on the receiver. I never knew these guns existed

I agree. I've hunted with a .375 Win. caliber, Marlin, Winchester for yrs in the Woods of PA,
Great Caliber, in the brush!
I looked this up in The Blue Book under 1982, 500 mfg. like the receiver says, and it's not listed!
Heard of a lot of Commemorative s, but not this one!
If your truly interested, I would post an ask on the WACA, Forum, as a guest!
I don't think that it would hurt if you post it there!

Why would Winchester make a commemorative Model 94 celebrating illegal game theft?

nice gun that i never heard of. but a pretty strange premise for a hunting rifle. reminds me of a ford truck i saw at the dealer that was OD green and called the AWOL Edition. i said to the sales guy that the dipschit that named that obviously never served in the military. AWOL isn't exactly a good thing.

Not so sure I'd Hunt with it, when I could buy a Winchester 94, in .375 Cal. for any where between, $800-$1200, VS. $3500.00 Bucks!

Even a Marlin, in .375 Cal, would be a lot cheaper in the same price range!

I'm kinda thinking it's a nostallgic thing, to show your friends, or to display!

There's always some one who'll shoot it though!

Different strokes!

Yes they did........And 99% of them aren't worth the price of the same rifle in plain jane version. They were also made as cheap as possible with cast receivers, stamped lifters and sloppy assembly.

Why not just find a nice 94 big bore and call it a day.. I don't think I'd own a rifle that was called the "poacher"...

That’s why they make Chocolate and Vanilla, I’d love to own one, the back story on the poaching scene is that a notorious poacher had evaded all attempts to catch the crook. A wet behind the ears new hire said he was going to catch him, it took him 10 years of hard work but he caught him AFTER his wife left him as he was consumed with the Poachers but he kept on until the job was done. He died shortly after in a wreck, he was a huge hero for his commitment. I want 2, one to hunt and one to look at. Nothing wrong either way you want to land on the subject in my opinion.

I really like my 375 Winchester - it's in really good shape and I could shave maybe a couple hundred off of that price, grin eek grin

Interesting. I have this old uncle that used to tell me he called his lowly ol pos remington 700 the "poacher". He said if it looked like he was going to get caught, he would "toss it in the bushes" and not look back. The only reason he owned that 700..
