7 here, 2 bucks turned into jerky.
Also bought a whole rib roast for 4.79 #. I think I still have a few turkeys and couple dozen trout in three deep freeze.

I took the wife out to one of the nicer restaurants around last night, and they had a 12oz ribeye for $39. One of their specials was a 7oz filet mignon for $49.

We got plenty of venison as we do each year. I haven't looked at beef prices in months but the wife tells me what she sees at the store.

18$ a pound for strip steaks
25+ for Ribeye

I'll just keep shooting deer.

I ought three medium size NY strips and one very small filet yesterday, just over $70. The filet was $39.99 a pound. Don’t recall the strip price.
For a special occasion, but still…..

True. Food prices hurt the middle class, the welfare class gets ever increasing food stamps so they don't really care what the prices are. If you see somebody filling their cart up with the more expensive cuts of beef around here it's a 99% chance they're paying for it with an EBT card.

Hasn't that been the going rate for years?

Yep, I just checked the menu at our regular steak joint my wife and I go to once or twice a month, $45 for 12 oz. ribeye and $49 for a filet (which the wife always gets). I could be wrong but I don't think that's noticeably higher than it has been for years.

Motto at our joint is "beef free since 93'!" Been batting 1000+ since then. I have literally not bought a piece of beef from the store since then.

Please don't break the streak!

That's quite a bit more than we are accustomed to paying.

What do you have in the other freezers?

I wasn't kidding.....I have 7 freezers.

Looking for another one.

Y'all use some kind of baskets to keep all that stuff organized? I keep finding stuff that should have been cooked last year, or the year before that....
I got a few wire baskets that come from some old freezers. I guess I need to hit the dump for some more.

Seems to be about $5-10 more than it was the last time we went, which was about a year ago.

One or two local meat market/butcher shops usually have a sale on pork in April... Last year it was $2.30/# for half a hog - cut, vacuum packed and ready for pickup... Beef runs about $3.30 usually, but this week I ordered a quarter from another place.. I pay the farmer for the hanging weight of the quarter, and the shop charges $1.80# for processing.. Only thing I buy at our local grocery store is chicken - when it's cheap - and stock up with at least a month's worth, otherwise I let it go....

Prices just went up. Local ranchers are now charging 8.75 per pound for 1/4 - 1/2 calf.
