Bill in NE: Good for you in honoring your friend (Doug).
You are better for knowing him and having him as your friend.
Year before last I took my life long friends Rifle (that I purchased from him a couple years before he passed on) on an Antelope Hunt.
It was a heavy barrel Ruger MK-II in 25/06 Remington caliber and I am sure Jack would have been proud of me - 10 minutes in opening day morning I harvested a dandy SW Montana Buck Antelope with his old Rifle.
Enjoy your super-cool Rifle and your memories of Doug.
Thanks for sharing - and I hope your friend Doug and my friend Jack are somehow somewhere sharing stories of Hunts and Rifles.

I saw 2 up your way last weekend. Made a little trip from Hiawatha KS to Beatrice to meet up for brass and powder. All of that looked like killer coyote country up through there.
The last time that bear ate a lawyer he had the runs for 33 days!
