Does anyone have any handle on the upcoming fur market? I am from nw Iowa and last year mostly there was no fur market that I was aware of.
Getting back into snaring a few after a 20 year break for work.
Now I am old enough that I better do it before I'm too old to have that much fun. Maybe I'll get a few tanned for the grandkids if there isn't any market.

Last year Groenwald was running routes and they were buying just about everything, just not paying a lot. They have a youtube channel with videos that were live feeds at many stops. You can check it out to get an idea of of what they were paying in your area.

FHA just dumped all the coons. 2 .00 and change. And its not looking to improve any time soon. Everything else is at the bottom end also except for good coyotes and bobcats and they are down also. Go trap cause you love to do it. Tan pelts for gifts. Not sure id put a snare on a coon these days, may make for an unsellable pelt. Read up on the fur market reports in the trappers post magazine. you get that if you join youre state trappers association.

Western coyotes and bobcats are worth the time. Bobcats were down this year but did sell at auction. Coyotes brought decent money too. Both markets are looking up this year. We'll be selling cats and coyotes unless something drastic happens. Bobcats brought anywhere from $250-$395, the latter at auction. Way down from say $750 of few years ago bit worth the time and effort to put up. Take care of your fur nd you'll make money on the right species.

Fur market has be low the past 8 years for the most part, basically because the main buyers are China and Russia. But trapping for me is more so for the sport and enjoyment, than making money.
