For those looking for a cheap & dirty 300H&H.
Just buy a 700 magnum action and put on a 24" stainless SPS 30-06 bbl and have it re-chambered. BTDT. Sold it when I found a 721. Should have kept both.

I know someone that has a Ruger No 1B in 7mm rem mag and at the price he is selling it for needs to have its beautiful stock refinished and its red pad replaced. I have not seen it in person but hoping the barrel is gone so it has to be rebarreled .

What bullet-load would you all recommend for a 300 H&H

If I saw one at that price in my local store, it would walk out with me.

. Puny Texas deer and pigs, occasional Aoudad. I have 150 partitions, Accubond, maybe 150 Berger’s, Barnes TTSX, 165 Barnes TTSX I have IMR and H 4350 and Reloader 22. I guess they need a magnum primer to light off?

. Puny Texas deer and pigs, occasional Aoudad Nosler's most accurate charge of the most accurate powder with 150 grain bullets is 66.0 grains of IMR4350 for 3100 fps, basically a +P 30-06. It's the start load, four grains under max so I'd have no qualms about going straight to it.

That load would kill anything I’m likely to run across. 300 yards is max where I hunt. Thank you.

I shoot a 1954 Model 70 in 300 H and H one of my favorite rifles . It loves 180 Grain Failsafes and 67 grains of VV N160 . Don't know the velocity , don't care . I only have 4 left. They kill like lightning.
I guess I'll switch to 180 accubonds when those 4 Failsafes are gone. No need to check zero on those Failsafes, it hasn't changed in years.

I let a 700 KS get away from me back in 2019 at a Cabelas. I was not familiar with the barrel markings and passed instead of doing research before I left. Went back to buy it, GONE.
Priced under $700. Damn, I still pissed

There are a couple of things wrong in that Bekker article. More than a couple there are guys on this site who get more out of the 30-06 with Rl-26 than what bekker mentioned.
