5 gun battery. Been a bit since this topic has crossed the board unless I missed it - which is possible too.

What 5 & why? Make it personal and share any details that are important to you. I know many of us could build several (many) different 5 gun combos that could do anything but there are a few new members posting that might be building their first battery.

Im curious what the batteries would look like as we travel around our country & beyond. Understanding that we each do different things with our tools - I suspect none will be the same but selfishly hope to draw out a few common threads. Have fun fellas

Today my Ruger-ish battery is:

.22 Mag - Ruger 77/22M
6mm Rem - Ruger 77 Flatbolt
308 Ruger 77 RL
338-06 Ruger 77 R
12ga O/U - Valmet

5 really? Not going to touch it with a 10 foot pole..

5 gun varmint battery:
17 HMR CZ 457
17 Hornet CZ 527
17 Fireball Remington Model 7
20 Vartarg Cooper 38
22-250 1-8 twist Tikka Varmint

1. 22 Long Rifle Remington 541T
2. 223 Remington 700 BDL Varmint Special
3. 30-06 Springfield Beretta Mato
4. 416 Rigby CZ 550 Magnum
5. 12 gauge Caesar Guerini Summit Sporting

This is in the hunting rifle section so I assume it's a 5 hunting rifle battery?
1) Cz 452 American 22 LR
2) Cz 527 221 Fireball
3) Ruger MPR .223
4) Rem 700 .308 Win
5) Ruger 77 .300WM

If I had to get by with just 5 altogether.
1) Cz452 .22LR
2)Colt 6920 .223

Rem 700 ADL .243

Boring stuff but covers all ill need

Proly could get by w .243 and .3006 rifles and a .22lr pistol.

1. Ruger Mark III 5.5" bull barrel
2. .243 Ruger 77 (or maybe .25-06)
3. .375 Ruger 77
4. Winchester Model 12 Heavy Duck cut to 26", steel shot safe tubes installed and lead removed from the buttstock to make it more svelte
5. Glock 22 (or maybe 19)

That should do it.

I tried this and it didn’t work out for me.

A little off the shelf as I'm primarily a coyote and duck hunter.

Rem 700 lightweight in 20P(coyotes)
Savage 10 22-204(coyotes)
Savage 10 25-204 (deer, cougar, javelina)
JP Sauer 16ga/16ga/7x57R (big game and whatever)
Husqvarna 51 sxs (waterfowl)

Yes, these are my goto's right now with a few others mixed in for special circumstances.

I thought this was 5 rifles LOL.

Yes, downsizing for me was futile. I sold my Ruger 338 and said I don’t need a 338 and ended up with a Winchester Super Grade. Sold the super grade and said no more 338’s and now have a Kimber. Just going to keep the Kimber because I’ll just end up with something else. Oh, I also have 325 WSM Kimber that I needed for some reason.

I actually started doing the mental gymnastics of which 5 rifles I would keep and then I saw people were including shotguns and pistols. I’m out, getting down to 5 firearms just can’t be done! 😁
