Once alpha was proven not to kill 1-3% of the population, in fact caused less impact in vulnerable countries than diaorhea and diabetes, it should have gone back the way it was.

They are changing the goalposts any time they want. Flatten the curve..protect the medical system( by burning enough money to have built a new medical system lol), vaccinate people with something that doesnt vaccinate. ..

We now allow vaccinated yet covid positive cops and nurses and supermarket staff to work due to staff shortages...meanwhile those not vaccinated were thrown out of their jobs.

???

You couldnt fit more contradictions or inconsistences into a single policy since the nazis said to the jews labour sets you free.

Mate you need to read Animal farm. It parodies how dictatorships work by convincing folks up is down, rich is poor, safe is risky, sick is well or any other rule they come out with week to week and it all works because the average person goes '' yeah I can sort of see how that would work''. lol

Stupidity, incompetance and over reach of governments is nothing new and probably won't change any time soon. I don't buy into conspiracy theories and don't see anything more sinister at hand. They can call me names or a fool but, until proven otherwise, it's just someone's opinion.

I'm not sure why you keep mentioining diaorhea and diabetes - these are not infectious diseases so are treated differently or not.

I'm guessing my days of international travel are over. Too bad, now that I have the money to travel. Maybe I'll buy another rifle!

Bizarre, considering despite our less than perfect gun freedoms, we still rank a lot better than most those other regions....

Can someone explain this phenomenon? Do Americans naturally dislike Australians more than say Asians, italians, russians, brits, south americans etc?

I think because UK and Europe went toward socialism in the 60's most of us were not paying attention because we were too young ( I was anyway). Oz/NZ turned toward socialism in in the early 2000s (NZ in the last 2 years). We Yanks are older now and are paying attention and are saying something about it. Not to worry - we will follow. Faster with the "D"s in charge, slower with the "R"s, but still going in that direction.

Yanks don't dislike Aussie/Kiwis. I feel a brotherly bond with you (more so than with the Brits). I think that we give you grief because what ever direction you go, we will get pushed to go in the same direction. After we all watched the compactor roll over your guns, the socialists in our country have said that we need to be more like Australia. That image is still in our minds.

Well, stay posted. I"m sure things will return to some level of sensible normality but might be a little while yet. In the meantime I hope your wife will appreciate the new anniversary rifle as much as you will.

I hope your right mauser. For me, when all 1st world governments simultaneously force a medical procedure on people at the risk of job loss, basically the largest infringement of human rights in history, that IS something new.

We also have open slather on monopolisation and price gouging across international markets( eg 1200% jump in shipping costs, non covid related, once incredibly illegal, now ALL 1st and 2nd world leaders simultanously allowing it). Privacy laws are toppling every day in every country. What more proof do you need or rather what would you consider proof? Some politician to finally say " hey we are screwing you 500 different ways folks, including a bunch that dont even relate to covid" lol.

Their global fatality impact is comparable to covid. Diaorhea is most usually infectious btw. It is one of the worlds significant infectious killers, however again, not something we destroy 4-5 human rights and world economy to deal with...

The US is deteriorating into a leftist chithole, but Australia seems to be steps ahead.

Sensible precautions could have been implemented without closing down state borders, or locking down regional towns and cities where there no cases of Covid. It was a huge overreaction by state governments.

But there are signs we’ve turned the corner. 33% approval rate for Biden spells trouble for the leftists in the midterm. November will take the tell but You can smell the brakes being put on .

We are now past 26 years and no big trip yet. Neither of us are vaxed and neither of us will get vaxed. Can I come to Oz unvaxed? I haven't been forced to to wear a mask in over a year. I have voluntarily worn one when I contracted COVID. Having COVID was 3 miserable days of my life - a small price to pay for being mask free. Am I looking at my 50th anniversary before I can come to Oz/NZ?

I can't speak for the rest of the US as I only live in Wyoming (same as szihn although I don't know him and never meet him - WY, like OZ is a big place). I can tell you that in eastern Idaho, Montana, Wyoming and western North Dakota ( they area I travel in) there are no mask mandates. Do I see people wearing masks - yes, about 25% do. Mostly older or otherwise at risk people (overweight, smoker on oxygen ...) Do I know what the US's policy is on foreign visitors - NO, I don't. I do know that a fellow truck driver can no longer go into Canada because he refuses to get vaxed. Will it effect his pay - sure. Is it worth it - yup! If you were wanting to visit the US and they were not going to let you in, if you were determined enough, you could fly into Mexico City and walk north. Our border is wide open for all forms of border jumpers. It's ashamed I can't visit Oz in the same manner.

I'm interested in visiting the eastern part of Oz. Looking to see the Great Barrier Reef and maybe Sydney.
If you're not vaccinated, don't count on being able to visit Oz anytime soon, if ever.

Oh well
