Just wanted to drop line to all the kind folks here that provided me with all the helpful information regarding 99's. Got my first one today, a shooter .300 EG SER.# 579288. Wood and metal are both 90 - 95% with only normal handling marks for hunting gun this age. Action is tight and lever functions smoothly from shoulder. Bore is nice and bright w/ no signs of pitting. She wears Weaver mounts & Rings (no scope), leather sling on factory swivels, and came w/ a hard case and box of 150 gr. factory ammo. I paid $330.00 for all, which I thought was a pretty good price.
I had a member on another board that I visit answer one of my posts, and he mentioned that he had the gun for sale, came to find out he only lived 1 1/2 hrs. from me. We met at a halfway point after work this eve, he showed me the gun and the rest was history, well I did have to spend a few minutes wiping my slobber off the gun before the ride home .
I've got some pics of the gun on my email but I'm ashamed to say I'm not computer literate enough to figure out how to get them into this post. I'm open for some Puter lessons if anyone cares to see them.
Thanks again for all the helpful info y'all provided. YB

Sounds Like a good purchase. Hope that 300 savage puts a lot of deer in the freezer. BMT

Thanks BMT! Can't wait to shoot it, but so far I couldn't be more pleased. Feels like a trip back in time with her in my hands. Va. just extended the rifle season from 2 weeks to 4 weeks in the counties I hunt, for this upcomming season. Looks like my muzzleloader may collect a bit of dust this year YB

What post are you responding to? Nobody said anything about the year of maunfacture. That SN would be from 1951. Had a little too much of the ol' #9?
