They used to be sold at Wally Worlds 10 to 15 yrs ago for 550 to 575.
Prices on em are probably full blown retard 650 to 750 in waaay worse condition used that this one I got today.

Went to this place in the pic today.
Do alot of Bussiness in their.
Actually have the largest pistol and long gun selection in town.
New and used.
Lots of volume of business in the place.
Good prices on guns and ammo.

Walk in.
Grady ( army retiree ) says, hey Rory we just had a SG clear 2 day police check aint even put it out yet.
You wanna see it??

Im like sure I do what is it?

He just smiles at me and says you are probably gonna be really interseted in this one.
It came in on monday and we took it in as a trade from a older customer on monday.
You have talked to him in here a few times also.

What the fugg is it man???

He comes out with this black and black 390.

Im like looks good outside.
But it is gonna be like all the others black and black
Blue and walnut
I have seen around here since 2008 - 10ish when I started looking at em.
Have broken many of em down, inspected and passed.
Just another 390 never taken care of...
SMH...
Abused never cleaned gas systems tore up pitted, crusty as fugg
Fossil layers of carbon like felt in the forearms.
Inside of receivers all wore out.
Trigger assembly look like a layer of powder moss growing on em
Or full of crap like sand dirt or peices of leaves.
Exterior finishes trashed..
Plastic gouged , scarred , craked
Wood ones the myriad of abused wood issues...

Attitude basically is it's a Berreta you dont have to clean them.
Uh huh.... right...

Slumlord has a walnut and blue one I refinished for him.
His is in 95% condition
Shot his.
Nice swings and points nice.
Have wanted one in the back of me noggin since.
Just could never find one in really exc shape versus what people selling em describe their condition.
SMH....

Grady hands me over the gun gives me a small nylon tipped punch and a small hammer.
Says break it down man
This gun is cherry and aint had but 2 boxes of shells run thru it.

I do the joebiden come on man....
He says no Im serious man.
Break it down and check it out.

He wasnt bullschiting me
Told him how long I been looking for one.
And you can stop looking at your distributors for a new 930 field for me now.
Asked can you let me out the for your asking price and back up on your price for tax to get it their and still make a good profit?
He just chuckled and said you aint gonna want a 930 after this.
Calls his wife the FFL holder
Says Rory wants to buy that 390 we took in on trade on monday.
Explained my offer.
She is laughing on the phone and says sell him it.
πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
Good customer and shop relationship.
Have sold and traded numerous guns to em and always leave em a good profit margin and they like to mess with me in a reciprocal manner knocking $ off stuff I buy.
Go to the bank get 500 bucks and back in 5 mins Grady.
πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘

Got it home .
Broke it down again and went OCD cleaning mode on it
95% condition cosmetic gun Imo
95 97 % condition mechanical
But that is IMO.

Big pic of over all mechanical condition
Kinda tells the story of this SG only having 2 boxes of shells run thru it.

Rene, isn't that a pretty big leap going from a Mossberg to this Beretta thing?

You are you g to love it.
Light 12 gauge, nice soft shooter.
Mine runs light 3/4 oz loads my buddies Benelli can't.
Same loads won't even reset the recoil set triggers on some
O/Us if shot by smaller shooters. Said friend loaded them for
his girls. Gave them to me and told me I would have to hand cycle
the gun.

The 390 just shuffles them through like any other round.

ROUGHLY around 1990 or so, Beretta had a promo at the Shot Show that each business could buy a A390 per employee for $390. The idea was to let customers shoot it to sell more. I bought the high grade walnut one. The VERY first time I took it out my old lab flopped down against it and skun up one hole side of it in the duck boat. I bet 100 different people shot that gun and I never cleaned it. It just kept on working.

I am always looking for factory wood stocks!

This pic tells the real story of this guns condition.

Got this gun cleaned to my standard once I got it home.
Was not a hard job doing a detail cleaning on it.
The gas system and other parts are pristine.
50 rd gun....

[Linked Image from i.postimg.cc]
I stole this thing compared to ones I have looked at over the years.
0 hesitation to buy it once I inspected it at Cowboy Dans.

Was intending to look for a Savage MkII .22 bull barrel today.
Cowboy Dans was 1st place I went.
I can find a MKII
Aint ever gonna find a 390 in this condition used.
BTDT

Right place
Right time
5 major planets lined up.

Gunga Galunga......
Wont ever buy another yearly dove gun again.
Me and Slumlord gonna be the 390 azzholez on dove fields this year.
He cant work a semi trigger fast as me though πŸ˜πŸ˜πŸ˜†πŸ€˜ but he can work waaay faster than most on a field
We have heard the commets....
LOL!!!

Gonna put a good carlson ported bird hunting choke in it.
Find a simms pad for it.
Might find a fiber optic green bead for it.
Kinda like this silver one on it.

I think this stock is foam filled.
Dont thunk hollow sound
If it is not
Put about 10 14 oz of fishing sinkers and wally world bags in it.

Help some with recoil in conjunction with the simms pad.

Give me something to do tommorow.

Nice clean 390!

Beretta's best semi auto, in my opinion.
I have put quite a few shells thru mine.!
Replace the recoil spring in them every couple of thousand rounds and clean it every now and then.

That's not a bad price in these times. There was earlier mention of using light loads in the 390 and it seems many with 28" and longer barrels can handle subsonics such as Winchester AA Featherlites and the old Federal Metro loads using the factory gas valve spring. The Winchesters were a bit under 7/8 oz at 980 fps with the Federals running roughlythe same speed with one ounce.

I had a 28" gun and a 30" gun both of which shot the light loads well. My current 26" gun cycles the Featherlites well for the first couple boxes but needs a quick wipe down or a blast of spray on Breakfree in the receiver and piston to work for a bit longer. If using light loads I replace the factory spring with an aftermarket one from Cole's Gunsmithing. With the aftermarket spring it can run several hundred rounds before I feel bad enough to deep clean it.

You made a pretty good buy which I wouldn't mind stumbling into.

My 935 turkey gun I got used, need to pattern still.
Is pristine also.
Traded a case of m855 from the 9mm Endowment Foundation for it.
Basically pure compunded profit from that spring of 2021
Used 835 ulti mags for almost 15 yrs for turkey
Prior to that for turkey I used a savage stevens 311 12 ga for about 12 yrs.
Have used 935 and 930 28" bird guns for tree rats.

But i have never found a 390 that cut the mustard with me I would buy until today.
The days of win 1400 and mossberg semi auto for dove are done now.
This 390 is already in core group never sell status.
Oldest daughters husband/ snake eater 10th group has 0 clue what is gonna get downloaded on him when I kick the bucket for firearms from me.
Hopefully by that time they have kids and my daughter dont have any more miscarriages...
πŸ˜•πŸ˜•πŸ˜•

I have zero complaints about mossberg guns.
Had a 835 last year that had a cracked receiver in the H section.
I suspect the cerracoat guy dropped it before he sprayed it.
Dunno..
But I aint gonna fugg up a good thing I have with the best cerracoat guy in town.
Water under the bridge..

But that is my experience with mossberg and others have their veiws also.
