Way, way late for that.
It isn’t about a person having a firearm. Simply having a million armed people will accomplish very little, and be very slow. Having a million armed people organized and trained in basic tactics and military doctrine, working together is a whole different ballgame. Learning as you go will cost enormous human life.
Ukraine needs leaders with balls more than guns. The first step is to have a gun. Everything else is a step further down the line. Yes, a million guns is a deterrent, although a million guns in skilled hands, is obviously MUCH better.

The Ukrainians can do some damage if they fight a hit and run urban guerilla warfare. Patton should have cleaned them up in 45. He was right.

Its not how effective the man is with a gun, it is what's in the heart of the man with a gun, an unarmed man has very little heart or desire to defend a government that doesn't trust him in the first place !

There’s a whole bunch of quality US made weapons they can have - enough to make it a decent fight. Of course, they’ll have to politely ask the Taliban if they can borrow them.

All I know is that at some point in time, Russia will have to put boots on the ground in the streets and that would be a lot harder if every home has a gun. Of course, as we all have said, they should have done this years ago.
