A buddy in Virginia sent me a Jebs Headhunter .650 Crio choke to try in my SBE.....I messaged him after I shot it "hope you didn't plan on getting it back".

The stock is 22 years old...the Cerakote on the action is 4 or 5 years old....I just bought the 24" Crio barrel Cobalt colored Cerakote is fresh on it. The scope is about 20 years old.

I have never owned a Jeb's but have seen enough patterns out of them to know that they are good stuff.
IC, and Rhino were/are my go to chokes. Like I said I know Jeb's are good as well as others.
If starting from scratch with a new gun and or load, I like to save myself time and headaches and buy a good choke. I know others get great patterns with less expensive chokes, I just have never had any luck with them.

With one exception, back when I shot 12 ga I tried a Remington Ventilator and it flat shot great. I hunted with one for several years.

What surprised me was the fact that there was no adjustment needed when I swapped out the Patternmaster Code Black Turkey and the Jebs.

Patternmaster Code Black Turkey on the left and Jebs on the right....at 25 yards.

The results are a close call in performance at 25 and at 50 yards....Jebs choke wins because it has the most sex appeal.

The Jeb's does look a hair bit tighter to me.

You told me Jeb's don't shoot straight! Lol! If those patterns don't do it, I don't know what will. But just imagine how much better they'd be if you sprinkled a little "fairy dust" in with it! Haha!

That’ll rock his wagon! And with the 3.5” loads, it rocks both ends of the wagon!! 🤣 Great patter man. I had a Jeb’s turkey choke for my M2 20ga that was terrible with any shell so I returned it.

I have one for my TC Encore that shoots nice round tight patterns like those above.

I had an acquaintance that bought a Jebs....he liked the pattern it shot but it was bad off right or left.

Not to nit-pick, but... Lol!

It's all good. Picked up a couple PatterMasters for the new SX4 20ga headed my way. The turkey and the duck, I like messing with this stuff.

I shot a scope one year back about 2002 or 3 (this very model)....I killed 6 or 8 turkeys with it....then disaster happened.

I had been sitting for quite a while and I had slid down the tree....turkey slipped in no way to slip back up the tree without the turkey seeing me....I finally got my head close enough to see a half circle of clear sky through the scope....lined her up and bOOm.....I missed.

So I took the scope off and went back to shooting beads....I don't sit low low to the ground anymore so sliding down the tree is not a problem anymore so i put the scope back on.

The Jeb was free to test plus now i have a way to adjust my point of aim.

I'm still not dead sold on the Jeb I plan on doing one more comparison test on the two next week.

The only range at my club that has a 25 yard...is set up 25 and 50 yards....50 yards is kinda stretching it.

I need to shoot both chokes at 30 and 40 yards off a rest.

Those chokes are made so you can screw them in partially to get the desired pattern. Change the choke by 1/4 turn any way and get high; low; right; left; and bingo, you have a multi patterning shotgun.

You could do that with any choke tube, tighten it down, then back if off from a 1/4 to a 3/4 inch turn, create a gap between the bottom of the tube and the barrel ledge, make the tube even looser with every shot, create more problems over time, etc, etc. Of just get a tube that shoots straight.

Oh, wait, that was a joke. I get it now.
