Recently picked up this 5-cavity mold. It casts very easily.
Anyone here familiar with this one? Application?

Good for leverguns for sure, and for 44spcl revolvers or any revolver with a 'short' cylinder.

I like the square lube grooves that hold more lube, but if you use a good lube you may only need to use the bottom one. smile

Can't say I've shot anything but paper with it so far.

It looks like it would provide a good amount of smack even at moderate speeds, say like in a 44 mag on top of a Unique class powder.

Mathman,
thats the very reason i bought it. Sort of an impulse buy as I hadn't read of anyone using it for such.

For those purposes the fact that it seats a little deep will actually be a benefit by taking up excess powder space.

I have two of ythem. One is a 4-cavity plain base. The other a a 4 cavity "dual" mold ( 2 gas checked and two plain base.). I bought them for my Marlin 1894 (Ballard rifling) 44 mag, which had a .431" groove diameter.

Sold the Marlin ( actually swapped it for an 8 hp Yamaha 4-stroke outboard.). Still have the molds ( and Saeco 0.433" sizing die) .

The NOE mold produced a nice bullet which shot well in the Marlin.

Should be great in a 444 Marlin! I believe that 265 grains duplicates the original factory bullet weight, though I prefer a heavier bullet! memtb

This is an old RanchDog design for the Marlin guns. But I expect it'll work great in many 44 revolvers, as well.

I just received a 2 cavity 1pb/1gc of this same mold a couple months back (I ladle cast). Those are some nice looking bullets being dropped from yours. I'm personally planning to use mine in a 444p once I have time this summer to cast them up and try out some loads. Living in MN and having very few critters that require 444 power, I'm expecting to use the pb primarily in downloaded applications at 44mag levels using the bulkiest pistol powders I can find. But when I want to ramp it up, I'll use the GC side and powders in the 444 load manuals.

Again, nicely done. Those are real clean results. Makes me want to get outside.

Let us know how they do in your 444 p. I have a 444 p too and I'm considering this mold. I'd actually prefer a bit larger meplat for dual use in my 44 revolvers but I'd like it to feed well in the rifles too.
