Older Savage rifle, plain wood stock, heavy barrel chambered in 222. I was expecting it to be a $350 - $450 rifle. Guess I am out of touch... owner says they regularly sell for min $800 now days? Is this accurate information? I will check gunbroker after this, see if they have anything

Looks like it is a Model 112 Series J. Are these all single shots?

I don't know that you can say they regularly sell for a lot.. I can't find a single one on gunbroker that's sold recently. Ton of 222's in models 340, 24, 840, even some Savage Anschutz 222's.

I see a 112 in 222 that sold on an internet auction for $575 + 10% auction fee in January of this year. With a Leupold 12x scope. I'd say that's quite a way under $800 for just the gun...

And yeah, it was a single shot also.

It's kind of like the Super Rare 22 HP on gun broker. They all start at $1250 and up and you see them on there with no bids for months. Then you find the penny sale, no reserve and, it's a different story. If they are nice they will get up there. But, the damage is done, people go to GB and look at all the starting bids and think that's the norm, even though there are Zero bids.

I'm not greedy, I just want one of each.

I dont think they made many 112s in 222 REM, so Im sure the price is going to be up there when you find one. I handled a Savage 110 in 222 REM at a gun show many years ago, wish I would have bought it.
