Beaman R9. As a springer I find I have to concentrate on my follow through to shoot it consistently. Shooting it consistently makes me a much better rifle shooter. Mine has accounted for countless critters and vermin.

The R9 is great rifle and a big step up quality wise from the Chinese and Spanish guns. For a little less money, the RWS 34 is a good gun as well.

I have been considering selling my R9. If interested, PM me.

I just grabbed a bunch of .177 crossman premier 7.9 hollow point pellets for my HW30S (same as R7) for practice at home. Awesome rifle.

My R7 shoots the RWS Diabolo Basic pellets into little tiny groups. Another good cheap pellet. Give them a try if you find them someplace.

I've been resisting the urge for something new but the one that caught my eye is a Gamo Urban.

It's got a small tank for a PCP so it'll refill quicker from a hand pump than a bigger rifle. Approx. 30 shots per fill.

They're made in Spain/England I believe the barrel at least is a BSA. Not made in China!

6-3/4 pounds

I'm just not shooting enough shots in one session to justify a PCP and my gas rams are so familiar,,,, we'll see if the urge passes.

I've been tempted to try a Gamo Urban a few times. Looks like a nice handy size/power for hunting.

purchased about 48 years ago, for about $125 or 150 at the time. I replaced the factory leaf sight with a williams reciever sight and at the standard 10meter/yard for airgun testing I could off a rest shoot groups less than 1/4", closer to 1/8". A few years later I replaced the receiver sight with a scope that stayed on for close to 40 years, and having to have the piston seal replaced last year went back to the receiver sight, plenty accurate out to 30-40 yards. I also recently purchased a HW 98, also a break barrel, with an adjustable stock comb, a barrel shroud for weight, and put a large Airmax scope on it, shooting on a good day at 30 yards I can get about 1/2 to 5/8 " groups. There are plenty of highly accurate break barrels out there, just do your research and some shopping.[/quote]

48 years ago, That's pretty cool! I bought mine in 1983 as a present to myself when I graduated high school and I think I paid $200 for it or something like that. I replaced the main seal myself about 10 or 12 years ago but haven't really shot it much since. Yeah, it is accurate. I used to shoot it upstairs in our house and ruined some pretty good (probably really worth something now) toys. Killed a dump truck full of pigeons with it. It was a real hammer compared to my Daisy 880 BB gun!

I use quality springers for practice at my home. I have a Beeman R7 and R9 in .177 and a Weihrauch HW95 (equivalent to the R9) in .22. Beeman's are just rebranded Weihrauchs.

I've thought about getting a PCP, but there is a lot more cost and overhead, plus I can only shoot at relatively short ranges at home, and the springers are fine at that distance.

I love my 2 Crosman 1377's. One's scoped the others iron sights. I have a 17 yard pellet range in my crawlspace. with 10 gr pellets at 400 and 450 fps mv these guns are as much fun as any PB's I shoot. I shot a 2.5" group with the scoped one at 50 yds. couple weeks ago and the ballistics from Chairgun was almost dead on the nose. The iron sighted one I use for long distance MOA and Mil calcs using the front sight measurement vertically and horizontally vs the sight radius, and I can reference shots to 80 yds. with it...including windage calcs. These are great platforms for angular math calcs. and it's really fun with them.
