I like the Filson strap vest.

They used to have one with blaze panels, but I don’t see it on their website now.

Edited to add: reading the reviews, it looks like they may have changed the construction of this vest ... complaints about nylon straps.

Anyway ... I love mine, but it’s the older style.

I used a Final Rise Summit strap vest this season. Big difference in weight distribution and more useful pockets than the conventional vests I had used in the past. I opted for an additional storage bag that mounts on the middle rear. It was very useful for placing a light jacket once things warmed up. The front pockets have two compartments each. The larger one has a zipper that closes towards the rear. There are may accessory pieces one can add as well.

Here are some comments from an old thread on strap vests:

I'm not well versed enough to say which would be "best" but locally - everyone I know seems to have either Final Rise or Chief Upland. Chief Upland being local to me - just 10 miles down the road in Manitowoc.

I don't require anything very "technical" but if others do, that's up to them. Most of my walks for birds are less than half an hour, my days are a succession of walks of that length. Rare for me to be away from the pickup for longer than 30 minutes. I am interested in https://www.filson.com/hunting-fishing/outerwear-vests/mesh-game-bag.html#sku=20021279-fco-000000072 and would be more interested if it had the cotton straps instead of nylon.

I picked up a chief upland after my old vest stopped working. It's pretty great and has almost too many options. I'll probably have a setup for each type of hunting. It is a lot of vest, definitely not minimalistic.

I always liked a big better, warm down here early in the season, didn’t like weight in my shoulders either.

I ordered a Final Rise vest a week ago. Look forward to receiving it soon. I like the fact that they are modular and can be used for many different style of hunting. In fact, I actually ordered the turkey summit vest. However; with a couple different molle attached pockets, it'll be ready for the grouse woods this fall. Matt Davis, the owner, is a real stand up guy as well.

From what I've seen of him on Instagram - I'd agree.

I also liked what I saw of Chief Upland and we got to talking - bam, turns out he's 10 miles down the road. Small world.

One of the few good things about WI/MI - we're in good grouse country.
