Has anyone ever seen a Marlin 39 Hammer Spur stamped with JM before? This was a new one to me.
I am always looking for factory wood stocks!

Yep, I believe they came out in late 50’s near 57 or 58. Marlin redesigned the hammer spur a bit to accept them.

I am not sure I even want to sell it and if I decide to I have a buddy that I would like to give first "dibs" to. I found it and had never seen one before was my only reason for the post.

I see in my quoted post above that I miss typed the answer. Marlin redesigned the actual hammer to accept the hammer spur. Basically there is a slight dado milled into the hammer to receive the spur. Hope that explains it right.

There was one on a 39 that I bought years ago. Sold the rifle but kept the hammer spur because I thought it looked cool.

Gunshop I frequently visit (that has a lot of gun parts) had a bag of these that I bought for $30……should be set for a while……can’t have a marlin from that era without a JM spur😁
