Happened to be seen these on GunBroker recently I know they've always been some of the best cap and ball pistols and some of the most expensive but holy hell $1,200 to 3,000 what gives us this. And I know just cuz they're priced that doesn't mean they're going to sell for that but

For another $250 or so you have yourself a .45 Colt too. Midway has the conversion cylinders on sale pretty often. A Belt Mountain replacement base pin simplifies loading a bit. While you’re at it, order the high front sight as well; you’ll need it.

Unless they start making them again I really doubt the prices will come down much. They are a very nice piece.
Have a great day.

Those are really good guns. Years ago, I sent mine to Dave Clements for his 50 cal conversion. Don't think he does those any more.

I did the burl rosewood grips.

Here's a write up on the Clements 50 cal Ruger OA.

I've used the Mt Baldy .488 Conical bullets. They are very accurate and have a good bit of whack....

All cap and ball revolvers have gone up in price. Just the crazy times we live in. The Old Army has skyrocketed. I have one in pretty nice condition that I don’t even shoot. But, I wouldn’t sell it, might be able to retire on the sale of it in a few years at the rate things are going.

Could be it’s a “non-firearm” per BATF regs. :DMaybe slower to load, but holds it own with most center fire hand guns in power.

So one can buy a powerful handgun under the radar. That’s a big reason my Clements .50 is a keeper. And those are no longer available. You just don’t see them for sale, at least I haven’t seen one.

May have to leave it to gunner in my will. But, he’ll have to get it from my son, who may not be so quick to let it go. laugh

Bought one 2 years ago for 600, it needed some help, right about then a new one showed up in state for 800, wished I had bought that one as well. Changed the sights and used it a year ago to place the finish shot on a moose during a ML hunt. Did the job that I shoulda done the first time with the ML, I was humbled...
