Just wondering if anyone here has tried the following Accurate bullet for use in an early 1:38 twist .444 Marlin and what your experience has been like.
Or if you haven't used this exact bullet but are knowledgeable about that rifle what are your thoughts about this combo?

I don't know if the nose is a little long on that bullet. This is what a friend cast and they worked well.

Plus I think the .430 would be smaller diameter than I would want.

Ok, do you mind explaining? I'm new to the .444.

Shorter nose and more of the ranch dog band style for Marlin rifles. I don't know why they work well with Marlin Micro grooves, I just know that they do.

And I'm not trying to be flippant. I'm not that guy that questions everything, I'm not that guy if you ask me what time it is I tell you how to make a watch.

I'm that guy that hunts, shoots, fishes, bangs chicks, whilst others question everything and do the math on what makes a good bullet for Microgroove Marlins.

I'll acquiesce to their expermenting and just load the SOB's and shoot.

You do see the similarities with the molds I posted and the Ranch dog mold? It seems many and smaller bands work with the Microgroove.

The mold you posted seems more of revolver bullet. Marlins tend to have wicked short throats and feeding is always an issue with levers.

Let us know what you go with, thanks. The 444 really smacks the wet off of deer and I wish I stil had one, since most deer I shoot these days are under 50 yards.

The accurate 43-300N is also a highly recommended bullet mold for the 1:38 AND 1:20 twist Marlins.

It is essentially a duplicate of the Mountain Molds (no longer in business) bullet detailed in Glen's article on the 444 marlin here (complete with Rev 2 reduced diameter front drive band):
http://www.lasc.us/Fryxell444Marlin.htm

I ordered one up, but haven't yet had a chance to cast any or test them. I have a 1:38 and a 1:20 444, and intend to test them out in both at some point when I get a bit of time! I agree though, short nose is a requirement. A long bullet like that originally pictured probably won't allow being seated to the crimp groove without jamming up the action due to being too long of a COL.

Yep.
