Does anyone have any real life experience with monos in a 35 Remington? I'm looking for something that will reliably open up @ 16-2000 FPS. I've been watching the major manufacturers and have not seen a lead free 358 bullet in stock in a long time. The other 2 boutique makers I know of are Maker and Hammer. The specs on the hammer show them to be pretty long which I would think might cause me some feed issues in my Marlin. Maybe not. The Maker bullets have no specs on the web page for 358s so who knows with those. If there are other options I don't know about I'd like to hear about them also.
The chances they come, and the chances they go. But the time. You don't get that back.

I'm aware they make them. Have you used them on anything other than paper? I was hoping for some real world reviews.

The Barnes 140XPB .357 will work at that velocity range, if your rifle will stabilize them. I was running those at around 1900fps from a 357 Maximum rifle and they expanded without coming unglued.

Thanks for that link. I think I'm going to try some of those makers. I have .284 and .308 loads for several rifles, but I do love my 35 Remington for whitetail hunting.

https://www.bluecollarreloading.com/products/barnes-35cal-180gr-tsx-fn-fb-31112I got my best accuracy at 50yds using this bullet and 44gr LVR powder in my 35 Rem bolt gun today. I loaded 10 more and will test accuracy at 100yds with 5 of them and will test velocity with the other 5.

I just grabbed some of those the other day. Delivered to my door in 3 days and something like $6/box less than Midway. Definitely going to try them out. I'm still hoping this state doesn't go lead free. I've got a pile of Hornady 200s that shoot like this @ 100 with my 336. (that's 5 BTW)

I played around with Barnes 200TTSX in a Remington 760 35 Remington. 42.0grs of imr-8208xbr equaled 2240fps from a 18" carbine length barrel. Such experiments ceased when components weren't available. I thought it was a cool load but didn't take it hunting. No pressure signs were evident. This would be a load for strong actions only. Probably more than I'd stick in a Marlin lever action.

I've shot these bullets into wet newspaper and have found that the specifications as stated by Barnes are exactly correct. This bullet will open at an impact velocity of 1800 fps. This means this load has 440 fps to spare and is good for 200 yds. The 35 Remington can do more than you imagine.

According to the Barnes ballistics charts, the 35 Whelen can launch a 200gr TTSX at 2700 fps (by the way, certain handloads can go almost 200 fps faster), but starting at 2700 fps the Whelen will arrive at 400 yds with 1816 fps. If the 35 Remington starts out at 2238 fps it will arrive at 200 yds with the same 1816 fps. Thus, for all practical purposes the Whelen has twice the range of the Remington, but if 200 yds is your huckleberry then so is the 35 Remington

DF The Barnes 200gr TTSX has a B.C. of .369. Don't think the Hammer, or Cutting edge come close to that, but I haven't checked it out yet either. Feel free to set the record straight

I don't like to chance fate and will not rely on a bullet performing reliably at the minimum end of it's velocity range, especially not a mono Barnes. To each their own, but why use the 200gr TTSX when the 180gr TSX FN is available and designed specifically for the 35 Rem?

Probably just the ticket when the game is slightly larger than expected. Or, in another application when I let two Javelina get perfectly lined up for a two for the price of one shot

Just received some of the Barnes 180's. Barnes says minimum velocity is 1400 and they tested up to 2200. Guy over on FB showed some excellent results of Roe deer from a .358 starting out at 2500. These should work perfect in my 16 1/4" Savage 99 trapper in .358.
