Picked up a pristine Burris 6x AO from jk16. Put it on my Hornet this morning. Finally, the perfect scope (?)

7lbs 8.6oz, a drop of about 6oz from the previous optic.

Thanks jk16!

Nice, Pappy. We need to marry our two Browning Low Walls some day - your Hornet and my .223.

That looks great!
You may be able to get it closer to the bore with lower rings....
I'm currently running a Leupold 3.5x10 in low rings on my LW .260.

Hmmm…

That would depend on which one has to wear the dress…..

Not sure what the ones on it are. They’re Burris Sigs so old they were made in America! Burris bases too. All that shiny stuff looks good together.

Actually, it comes up pretty well to my old fat face. Gonna dial it in next week and take it for a walk in the turkey woods. If I’d had it Monday, it would’ve made meat.

Pappy, did you have any eye relief challenges with the Burris 6X?

It’s perfect for me. I checked it against the former 4.5-14 E1 by laying it side by side, then putting a flashlight against the objectives and using a white card on the ocular end to see where the dot of light focused. The 6, with 4” of ER, won.

Cool little scope. Only discovered them a short while ago, then jumped on this one in the classifieds. Will be watching for others.

It’s quite accurate with handloads with the bullets seated out long. Both H110 and Lil Gun with appropriate primers easily average under MOA for five, sometimes way under. Right now it’s dialed in for 46gr Speer FPs in case I decide to take it for turkeys. Those aren’t especially accurate and if time permits I’m going to try another powder and see if I can tighten it up a bit. Those loads also print waayyyy low compared to the hot VMax loads, but luckily windage seems to be spot on, so if I go chuckin’ I can just crank it up. Mule Deer sold me a bunch of new Win brass a while ago, so I’m set for life. He also very kindly included some cast bullets as featured in his article on .22 substitutes, although with the current primer/.22 ammo availability ratio what it is, I won’t be using it as a replacement for .22LR any time soon.

Anyone looking for a wonderful toy should consider chasing down one of these, or a .223 version like gnoahhh’s.

That, or R2 Lovell. Probably take after his father though and be a .222 or .223.

There are a bunch of YouTube videos on them. Looks like at least two Eyetalian companies make them, Pedersoli and Chiappa, and they can be re-branded for American sellers.

Pretty spendy, and it seems all Italian stuff is very scarce now, probably COVID-related. Taylor’s lists several, but all OOS. If you really want one, the IFG will take orders, then you wait……

If it is the same as the Mini Sharps of a few years ago, they miniaturized the trigger and lever loop, too. I couldn't get my finger on the trigger properly. It would probably be OK for smaller hands.
