I wanted to throw it out to the guys who were mentioned Never Call Me a Hero.

I just finished Pacific Thunder by Thomas McElvey Cleaver. It is extremely well researched and detailed. More factual than gripping drama. My 10 year old grandson proudly gave it to me as a gift when Mimi took him to half priced books Love that boy and he shares my interest in WW2 and knows all the planes and ships etc....

Anyway- my take on Pacific Thunder which chronicles 1942 on.
Thunder was full of facts if a bit oddly sequenced and did draw you in to a few characters but not over intimately. There is one section on the most hated man in the navy that I was thankful did delve into at satisfactory length. Nope=- no spoiler on that here from me!
.
When done reading I stood back and absorbed the point of what an ass kicking the USN put on the Japanese though many times it was as much their own fault.

A bit cut and dry but very informative and great reference material. whereas I think I might like the more personalized style I assume I may find in Never Call Me a Hero. Think that might be my nest up.
