Sometimes I watch hunting videos while I exercise on Nordic track. I am curious as to why Billy seems to arrive at his camp, and within a short distance begins seeing multiple bears and moose of all sizes, with a few caribou thrown in. Most other Alaska and Yukon hunts require lots of effort to see a few animals. Does Billy have incredible hunting areas, or is it selective editing? I am not considering an Alaskan hunt, but was curious about the contrast between Billy’s hunts and the other hunts I have seen.

Billy Molls seems to be a nice guy. They do have a good hunting area and I believe the videos might be souped up a bit. The one thing that sticks in my craw about him is that he claims to be a modern day mountain man but lives with his family in the L48. It is my view that if you can't survive the winters and go through the whole Alaska that you might be careful in pushing the narrative that you are what you say you are. I know many families that live out in the bush and what they deal with is not what he deals with. I do not begrudge him but I do feel that if you live the entire year up in Alaska that you develop a different relationship with the land.

His videos are great. It is awesome to have production companies and to share with that experience. I just would like him to take his family up here. Not to permanently move but to visit. It is a bit elitist to come and enjoy the resources of Alaska but not to open your family up to the experience.

He was busted in Galena in 2004 and paid a hefty fine.
Must be nice, pimping out Alaska's game animals, then fleeing when the weather gets cold, to live in a modern residential home. Quite the mountain man..........

I can't decipher what the offense was. He must have made some amends if he's still guiding, no?
Edited to add: I got the impression that AK takes game violations quite seriously. The wardens that checked us were very thorough. Polite but thorough.

MainerinAK I understand your “pimping out “ sentiments exactly. Many Montana outfitters are from out of state, and they love to block access to our public lands.

I've met FWS, Alaska State Troopers and the state park ranger in the last 2 years. Each flew into our drop camp. I haven't been checked by a wildlife officer in my home state in the last 20 years of hunting.

I still would like to know how he gets into so much game, so quickly, compared to most of the other hunts I see from the same area.

I enjoy Billy's hunting videos but pass on his inspirational/religious videos.
Unclear on why him not living in Alaska full time is such an issue. Maybe his wife likes to live around family while raising a young family with her husband gone guiding for months on end.
