I like that stacking method. Think I'll put up some laying in the driveway right now in that manner. The first row and every row need to be sloping toward the middle. Then fill the middle with the odd stuff. At around 5’ reverse the slope towards the outside.

Absolutely! 3 times actually 😀 Cool stacks and "shingles" for shedding precipitation.
How many cords do you go through in a typical winter?
Im guessing 5-6 including heating the pool in the early summer.

Nice pile of wood but you humbled me. I thought I was pretty burly cutting and splitting in a day and a half 2.5 cords of 24-30” alder that I had felled this time last year. We don’t even have a indoor wood burning source so this and the other 2-3 cords I have left is for the fire pit and smokehouse. I used my new Stihl saw which performed above its size and split it by hand but it ain’t oak and it ain’t 9 cords.
Good job 👍

It would be more impressive if you had split it with an axe. Using a splitter, still a lot of work, but meh.

I sawed up and split 3 truck loads in the past 3 weeks. I am cheating this year I have an electric splitter. Still a lot of work. This is bone-dry standing dead locust with a moisture content of 12.9 percent.

Nice piles. Envious of being able to leave stacks out uncovered.
Yup.

I got my 10 cords cut, split and piled over the winter..........and I don't own a wood stove! I sure do enjoy putting up firewood. Do you cut it for resale? I cut it primarily for wildlife management to get different age classes and plant new species. The bonus is that it pays for the propane for the year.
I am always looking for factory wood stocks!

I did about 2 cords, and that should be enough. And I used a hydraulic splitter run off of my tractor. I’ll be honest, I am not man enough any more to do even one cord with an axe or splitting maul. I gave away one of my splitting mauls, but kept one. Ya never know. I might need it someday.
The OP’s wood stacks are pretty cool.

I dont need to split unless it’s bigger than 24” diameter. Otherwise my Heatmor just gobbles em up whole. No idea what I have in here. We are still cutting best I can while my guts grow back together. We are into some chestnut right now. I’ve got three more on the ground to saw up. Today’s picture
