Just FYI,

Chatting with a Nosler rep about all things 9.3x62mm and Partitions when he says that everything related to the 9.3x62 - bullet, brass, ammo is not gonna happen this year.

Just too much already in line ahead of that cartridge.

For those of us with a lifetime supply fortunately it's a non issue.

A couple hundred bullets is plenty for me. I quit using mine as a varmint rifle. I have about 500-600.

Doing my "plinking" with 270 grain Speer's; hanging on to the 286 Partitions, 285 Norma Oryx and 286 PP Woodleigh's for something bigger that woodchucks, ringing steel and punching paper.

I always plinked with 286gr partitions. They worked like gang busters on squirrels and rabbits too..

I bought a lifetime supply of 250gr AB and 285 or was it 286gr PPU 9.3 bullets. Those 250 AB with a big game powder is pretty good load.

For what it is worth, in a pinch you can make 9.2x62 brass from 30-06 brass. It will be just a hair short, but it will work. And Woodleigh bullets (Midway stocks them) are just as good if not better than Noslers.

270 gr. Speer for fodder, and 285 gr. Oryx and 286 gr. A-Frames for the important work.

PPU harvested brass.

Lifetime supply.

Am interested in some 320 gr Woodleigh Weldcore RN, when they come back in stock.

Would only use reduced loads with 06 brass, case base dimensions are not the same some reports of 06 brass failure when used in the 9.3 X 62 Just my opinion

Copied and pasted
FYI; the 9,3x62 case is .003-.004 larger at the base than the 30-06. The case, upon firing, will expand and form a bulge on one side. The mediocre dimensional case thickness lets the case swell away from the thinnest/weakest part. A few FL resizings, and you will experience case head separations. I strongly recommend using 35 Whelen brass instead. I use the PRVI 9,3x62 brass myself. It is readily available, and reasonably priced.

Seem to recall reading something similar elsewhere.

If you limit the MV, or at least the impact velocity, to < 2200 fps.... it looks like a hellofa stopping round.

Garandimal;
Top of the morning to you sir, I hope all is well in your world as far as is possible.

As life happens sometimes, I'm involved helping a buddy with a Husky 9.3x62 project currently, so components are on the menu so to speak.

In our search we discovered that there was a fire at the Woodleigh bullet factory and at present the family owned operation has not said whether or not they're reopening.

Just a head's up on that, albeit a sad one for sure.

Regardless I do wish you all the best and good luck with your 9.3x62 as well.

Dwayne

Just to jump in with current information -

Over on AH a member is in regular contact with Geoff of Woodleigh and they are busy getting business stood back up. This year? Nope. But it will be back in business.

Puddle;
Morning sir, thanks so much for that!

We'll look for some next year then for sure.

As noted we're not finding a bunch of components, but my friend has been able to lay hands on a half dozen or so boxes of either Norma or PPU - I forget which at present sorry.

We're doing an 8x57 project too, as well as a couple more for me and another buddy so I get the data scrambled anymore.

Who knows, maybe I never was as sharp with my memory as I thought I was, you know? laugh

Thanks again for the good news sir.

Dwayne
