Most of my airgun use after the Red Ryder days, was pellets, mostly in Spring-piston rifles. Did have some great fun on birds and squirrels with a Daisy 790 CO2 .177 that I 'tweaked' for higher mv. Felt like the S&W 41........regrettably sold it back in college. So that was the bulk of my CO2 experience, and no doubt that was a quality airgun.

That said, I had a small stint using BBs on closer shots and at modest speeds in an 880 Daisy Powerline, they were effective on birds and squirrels.

Anyone using BBs these days, in rifles, and if so, which model and what's your experience been? I noticed BBs are dirt cheap in bulk....no doubt CO2 bulbs add a cost factor, but still looks to be easy on the budget. It seems the Beeman QB78 at Airguns of AZ was a former or copy of a Crosman, and then there's a Crosman 1077 that reminds me of a model my brother used a fair bit long ago.

Anyone want to chime in?
