Local paper says FWP confirmed a griz in the North Moccasin Mountains. Wonder how long before it gets into trouble like all the rest have.

Todd I saw a thing 10 years ago where one was spotted in Loma. F&G put out a trap...and caught FIVE. laugh

Just like the other " charismatic megafauna" they don't want us to really know how many are out there...

They were plains animals not that long ago. Of course they will migrate back as population increases and food sources are available. If let happen, they will get back as far as the Missouri and possibly the Mississippi.

There have been 5 euthanized in central MT in the past 15 years. A sow in the Little Belts is the only one I can think of that hasn't been in trouble yet.

We need to help repopulate California with them, after all it was their native range.

That's interesting. I have heard rumors of ranchers taking care of the problem, but it wouldn't surprise me if the feds were doing it. There was two up by Carter ~16 years ago that got into a chicken coup that I am pretty sure were killed. 2 near Stanford that were also and then one south o0f Lewistown last year. What are the others?

Yep... Let them out smack dab in the middle of the Hollywood Hills and a few dozen in the San Francisco city limits.
Hell, throw in a couple of dozen wolf packs and both city's homeless problem will evaporate like water from Lake Mead.

Honestly, this was and is inevitable. Gol dang it, if we could just delist and manage the problem bears, most producers and ordinary people could tolerate them,.

Dont worry, they have brown illegal dimocraps. When the grocery store shelves go bare, they in Ca will wake up in hell.

Article in the paper says the bear most likely wintered in the North Moccasins and hasn't caused any trouble so will be left alone as long as he keeps being peaceful.
