Looking for a compact, bolt action rifle in 300 Blackout. Something like Howa Mini or CVA Cascade SB would be ideal. I've been searching the internet for a Howa (discontinued in 300BO) or a CVA Cascade SB (fairly new model and very hard to find) with no luck. Not interested in Ruger American or Savage based rifles.

Thanks

I have a Howa mini, nice rifle after I was able to switch out bottom for a flush mount. I have been using the Sub-X bullets subsonic with my Dead Air Sandman and it is a blast to shoot.

I just picked up a threaded Interarms Mark X built by Mark Bansner with a Hi Tech stock. Hope to get it in next week and see how it does.

They are out there, but cheap they are not.

Remington also made the 700 in 300 BO. If money is no object, you can find the Kimber Adirondack and Christensen Ridgeline in 300 BO as well. All of these, including the Model Seven are available on GunBroker.

I like my 527 Hornet, but it's not what I want in a 300. If you see anything like the Howa or CVA,....something that I can use for a tractor/truck/woods-walking rifle, please let me know. Thanks, Hank.

I would avoid the Remington co-branded AAC model 7’s like the plague.

I had one the feed lips were so sharp they cut you when trying to load it, about every other round was a light primer strike, and the threads were off on the muzzle and I had a end cap strike on an AAC cyclone.

Remington was already in the “freedom arms group” fiasco at that time. They tried to blame the ammo (Remington 200gr. Subsonic). The rifle I had to put alot of work into and sell at a loss, and the can I had to have AAC rebuild.

I've got two of the Remington Model 7's in 300 Blackout and had a Howa Mini.

Sold the Mini as the Remington Model 7's were slightly more accurate. And I was looking to stick a lot of money into the Howa Mini, as the magazine release is a disaster and I feel the stock is a piece of crap (not a fan of Hogue's overmolded stocks, YMMV).

I would avoid the Remington AACbranded Model 7's in 300 Blackout as the very first run had issues. Rem/AAC replaced mine and undoubtedly many others, but some that were not repaired or replaced by Rem/AAC may be around, and now there is no Rem/AAC to take care of the issue.

The last model 7 I bought was one of these, not a fan of the stock but they are easy to sell, and I had no issues;

Thanks to everyone for the replies and info.

The model 7 would be a possibility, but not my first choice, even though I have a couple of them in other chamberings. The CZ 527 really doesn't fit the bill for what I have in mind and I've never been able to warm up to Savage centerfires.

I guess I'm just going to have to wait for the Cascade SB to become more available or hope a Howa Mini pops up here.

Another option is building a Rem-age.

I had a Ruger American. Between the flimsy stock and the poor feeding, I couldn't find happiness with it and sold it.

I have a Remington 700. I changed the trigger and stock and it shoots pretty good. Little heavy but I'm not carrying it far. I would consider building a remage set up if it were me.
