Hello - as I'm in the midst of a custom build on a 308 I'm already looking at my next rifle. I'd like a long action 30-06 or 280 AI for something longer distance. I'm interested in customs, or something I can work with to make it a custom. I prefer Remington or Tikka platforms as aftermarket stocks are easier to come by. I will take a full build, or components to make a build. Thank you

Best bet is look for a donor Tikka standard bolt face rifle.
I did a 280 AI. The factory mag feeds it flawlessly.
Lots of stock and barrel options.

That was definitely a consideration. I can do the same thing off a Remington 700 action as well. The price of a R700 action and Tikka T3/T3X are roughly in the same ball park.

I'm looking to do the same thing caliber wise, and I'm looking to stay with the same actions for the reasons you cited. I prefer the Tikka's, but they can be a tad short on COAL for the 280AI if you want to twist the barrel for heavies. Not that such a rig won't still have a lot to offer, it's just held back from all that it could be.

Up until not too long ago, there were some left hand, SS 700 actions with standard bolt face available on GB for decent prices. I picked a couple up. Paid less than $500 each.

I've got a stainless 700 action, MIke Rock 8 twist barrel, McMillan KS stock 280AI that was built by Eddie Fosnaugh.
Would that be something you'd be interested in?

Aics mags will take 3.6"
Mountain Tactical 3.4"
Tikka factory 3.37"

Mountain Tactical also sells a bolt stop for an extended bolt travel

No idea off the top of my head, but its perfect.

Yes, Eddie's work is top notch. Bedding is beautiful and 0 deflection on the barrel when tightening or loosening the action screws. Chamber is clean and crown is just right.

I shouldn't even think of selling it, it shoots as good or better than any rifle I've ever owned, but I have too many and shoot too little anymore.

If you are looking for a turnkey , ready to shoot rifle

Alamo precision usually has a lefty or 2 on their website in the Ready to ship section.

I actually had a rifle on order with them a few months back, but cancelled it. I won't ever have them touch or build me a rifle. There are a few guys on here who will agree. Especially for a lefty build - their proprietary APR hunter stocks are RIGHT handed with a left handed bolt cut. I called them out on it after I bought a stock from them and they acted dumb. Lost all respect from me.
