Does Canada have anything like the Pledge of Allegiance?

No 673, I'm not a dual citizen, I'd like to be.

I could be a dual USA Citizen too, but it would cost me too much for a pardon.

No , It's not part of Canadian culture .Canadians as whole are very undemonstrative around patriotism. Overseas we hand out pins and pens. "You Canadians are the only ones who do this." Was a comment we got from our driver on the way to airport after turning in our rental pickup.

I became a Canadian Citizen in 1977, 5years after landed immigrant status. I was surprised a year later talking to my sister who had become a US Immigration Officer that I had lost my US Citizenship upon becoming a Canadian Citizen. I told my sister I never renounced my US Citizenship. She asked me did I not swear to not bear arms against the Queen. I said I guess so. She said have you never heard of the Revolutionary War or the War of 1812? We might go to war with Great Briton again. You swear allegiance to another country you lose your American Citizenship automatically.
Got my Dual Citizenship after the first free trade agreement was signed in the 1980’s. I immediately got an American Passport in case they change the rules again.
I have recently come to the conclusion that Canada is a dictatorship that exists at the whim of a Prime Minister who can declare an emergency at any time with very little provocation complete with Jack-booted thugs to enforce his will.

That is what you would call a parliamentary democracy . That is how it works.

I have never thought about that before. I do not see myself swearing allegiance to anyone for Citizenship, in any Country. I think there are alot of People who also do/would not. Sadly, Trudeau is a very bad man, he has turned his back on Canadians and what our Country has to offer those who genuinely wish to build lives here. Many People with money are leaving this Country as we speak, I have never seen that before. Not sure, but I think there are some Countries a Canadian can have their pension forwarded too via some sort of agreement.

On the topic of being a dual citizen, I'll guess you get to pat taxes to both countries?

Yes Richard I pay taxes in both countries—however because of a tax agreement my accountant tells me if it is anymore than would be owed in one country it’s very small amount. I do know that I have received money from both countries—like stimulus checks. I also receive a small amount from Social Security-as well as my Canada Pension Plan but I paid into both.

I could be a dual USA Citizen too, but it would cost me too much for a pardon. If this isn't a joke, you should look into your rights seriously. A pardon will not help or inhibit your right to citizenship. If you are eligible for U.S. Citizenship a pardon isn't needed. And Canadian pardons are not recognize by U.S. Immigration anyway.

Ah, the good old days when we did not need a passport, much less all the covid bologna.

Does Canada have anything like the Pledge of Allegiance? Only if you're a Leafs fan.
