I'm curious about the .350 legend in a short, light hunting AR. I'm really just a bolt junkie but the AR's have been increasing in number the last couple of years...

Recommendations on a ready to go upper or complete rifle? Magazines? I'm ok with 16-20" but lighter is better. I do prefer stainless barrels but it's not an absolute.

Stay away from Bear Creek unless you like shooting patterns not groups.

I had my eye on a PSA upper, but it's no longer cataloged? I guess it didn't sell well enough?

Weird, as that's the only centerfire ammo I can consistently find

CMMG makes nice ones, but they’re not cheap.

My Bear Creek upper is accurate enough. Had it shooting 2" groups @100 with loads I cobbled together out of what I had laying around. Reliability has been an issue though. Polishing the feed ramp and a cmmg mag seems to have gotten most of the kinks out. time will tell though.

My Bear Creek barrel (18") groups the 180 Winchesters into 1-1/2" (3 shots) with W296 at 2,100fps. Also shoots the factory 145gr FMJ's equally well. Got some 170 Hornady's to try next. I assembled the upper myself. No problems feeding anything so far. Going to work up a plinking load with 124gr 9MM FMJ's. Carried it some last deer season. Decided AR's aren't much fun to carry compared to my traditional deer rifles.

Sounds like BCA is across the board on recommendations. I've seen that on almost everything I've read on them....a few good reviews, then a bad one. Like anyone I'd prefer great accuracy, but a barrel that is around 2 to 2.5 MOA without needing a magic voodoo recipe would be workable for me...if it's consistent at that every time I shoot it, not a one best group thing. Reliability is more important to me than 1 moa for what I'm thinking. It would likely never be shot over 100 yards.



I'll take a look at them. Anyone with feedback on CMMG is welcome to chime in.

I must be lucky since I haven't gotten a bad BCA barrel yet. I also have 223 Wylde, 224 Valkyrie, 6.5 GRENDEL, 300 Blackout and 7.62 X 39 BCA barrels. The worst accuracy comes from the 350 LEGEND, but that may be the cartridge and not the barrel. The 223 Wylde didn't shoot very well at first, but I kept shooting and cleaning it, and now it shoots OK for a very light barrel. The Valkyrie and GRENDEL barrels are the best. Average 5 shot groups at 100 yards are 1/2". I use both in 300 yard F-Class. These results are all with good handloads using Hornady ELD Match and Sierra TMK bullets.

I have 6 BCA uppers. All shoot well. I shared with the OP my findings on the .350. I also have uppers in .450 BM and .300 Blackout. A common theme is that consistent charge weight and die set up is critical to accuracy. The .350 has a limited selection of bullets to experiment with. I have my best loads so far with Lehigh 170 grain and Lil Gun, but H110/W296 are also strong performers.

Bear Creek is entry level, but I've had good luck with them.

Well sir, I've been using Anderson Mfg uppers since I found them at Primary Arms for $39.95, and they still aren't that expensive. ...but they work!
Got a BCA heavy, spiral fluted .223 Wylde bbl that shoots lights out. It's also on an Anderson upper/lower.

Guess I'm just a cheapskate! LOL!

I've been pleased with my BCA barrel, so far. I am however bummed that you need a special magazine for the .350 in an AR; 5.56 mags don't work.
