I held center mass and was just enough wind to drift group little left from center.

I doubt it, but when quartering a high contrast target of regular shape, it may not take as much as you think either.

Target is 32” x 34” depth! I want it that way for a reason! We get bad fishtail winds here quite regularly and my game is seeing first shot hits and if I’m off on a wind call I want it on that piece of AR500 to see a correction factor! When my son and grandchildren wanna play we go to the 5 and 3” plates from 1000! We shoot eggs on a stick on occasion!

Here's another from the day before.

Sharp, I understand you know what you're doing very well. That wasn't why I asked what I did.

A very important little tool toward safety and accuracy….head-space guage! I’ve checked some brass in previous times whereby the case was as much as .010 too short compared to correct chamber size from the firearm it was fired in! My experience tells me that the major cause of case head separation is because loaded rounds are fired using cases that are too short! Some times the bullet will be seated overly long which helps to a degree to prevent this because even though the case is too short the case head will be pushed back against the bolt face when ignition takes place! The shoulder will be blown forward to expand the shoulder area! I don’t therefore like loading ammo with undersize (length) cases! This little tool or one like it removes the guess work of setting the resize die such that the loaded case is matching the chamber from which the case was fired in! In retrospect, when first being taught how to set up ones dies the new guy is told to insert the resize die into the press with proper shell holder, move the ram of the press upward to max height and then screw the resize die down to touch the top of the shell holder then back the die up such that a gap between the top of the shell holder and the bottom of the die approximates the thickness of a nickel! In my judgement that is guess work! I didn’t win matches by guessing; rather I won lots of garbage by paying attention to detail!

So, if you have to fire said brass in order to use the case gauge, does the safety part come in on the second firing?

False shoulders from the start and chuck the gauge. smile
