Looking for an area to hunt AZ mule deer. I've hunted Unit 21 the last couple of years for coues and got tired of seeing more hunters than deer. Last year out of frustration I just put in for a point. Looking for an area to do a solo DIY that's not too difficult (I'm a senior citizen!). Unit 10 caught my eye because of access to the Big Bo and I searched here but all posts were several years old. Not looking for trophies just an opportunity for some venison and trying to avoid paying big bucks to an outfitter. Any ideas/suggestions appreciated Thanks!

I've hunted the Big Bo for elk. There's probably some deer on there but I don't remember seeing any. I would think you can find better public land somewhere else. Just because it's "private" doesn't mean it's anything special. There's a reason there aren't posts about deer hunting there.

Skip BIG BO. Limited access, not many deer and big and rough country. Look in game regs for distribution maps and make some calls to the unit biologists. They will help you out

I tried to contact the biologist for unit 21 a few years ago and was told they do not take calls from the public.

I talked to one just about 6 months ago. They won't give out their number but will take a message and call you back

It's been some 20+ years but I used to bowhunt unit 10 in December and OMG i'd see some big bucks. I'd go NW on Hwy 66 several miles out of Seligman. Turn NE on a good dirt road following the road up through the cliffs. I'd see bucks in the cliffs and in the rolling hills to their East. Saw the biggest buck of my life one December. A definite Booner!
