This cracked me up, like he's the only person to survive a power outage for a few days. The weatherman says ice storm and he's holed up in a hotel. I sure wouldn't fret about a week without power. It gets pretty boring. At the time I was working at a place that would pretty much give me unlimited overtime. I spent a lot of time at work that week,....me and my wife slept on a mattress on the floor in front of the fireplace burning green wood from the tree limbs I scavenged off of the street. It was a big day when the electricity came back on. Do that for a week then get back with me. It's one thing to live without electricity when you're set up to do without it. It's a whole different story when your whole house depends on electricity.

Yeah - We drive 700 miles towing a boat, then another 50 by river to live like that at our remote cabin. We refer to it sometimes as the Triple B "ranch" - Bugs, Beavers, and Bears. Missed it last year due to outboard taking a crap- so we'll try for 2 this year.  But the part about "set up for it" is right.
