I’m going to pick up either some 175 Scenars or 175 Matchkings. Plans are to work up some longer range loads for fun. I’ve never really gotten into shooting out to 500 yards or beyond. Are these two bullets on par with each other as far as accuracy and ease of load development?

I’ve read a lot of reviews that the 155 scenar makes for a decent hunting bullet. Is the 175 also a capable hunting bullet? It would be nice to have a load for longer range shooting that could also be used for hunting if need be.

I have not loaded the 175gr Scenars in my 308, but have shot many Sierra 175gr MKs.

SMKs were easy to develop a load for.

I have shot one animal with the 175 Scenar and the buck dropped, but there was little expansion and a small exit, resulting in a slow expiration.

I too am interested in the 155's but don't have meaningful experience with it yet. The extra velocity would cause me to choose it over the 175.

So far my favorite match/hunting bullet is the 168 AMAX and I would consider it as well.
