Did that hawk come through a hole on the bottom of the fence?

Never mind, I see now.

Pretty small hawk to try and take a chicken. That rooster probably weighs 4x as much. Ass kicking.

Roosters are heavy and tend to be very solidly constructed. I had a huge rooster once. He dwarfed the biggest hen I had, and could have likely kicked a Bald Eagle's ass.

Rodrigo Rooster. Notice how the 2x2 is bending under his weight.

Roosters are built super tough vs hens. Big bones; massive, strong, lean, muscle; super athleticism; hyper vigilance and aggression towards perceived threats to the flock. Built for battle.

Is that in Europe?

Can’t tell the species of the hawk, certainly an Accipiter (which would be a goshawk, Cooper’s or Sharpshin over here).

Doesn’t look like a young bird (would be browner), maybe a starving and desperate adult, possibly injured even before the rooster got it. Woulda had a tough time subduing that hen regardless.

What the video does show is just how fast an Accipiter can run, I’ve read of them chasing prey on foot through cover, never seen it before.

From the voice of the boy at the end I’d say American.

I used to go to cock fights when I was a little kid. Hector the husband of the woman who watched me when I was young would take me and the other boys she watched. I was probably five but I still remember it. I went to a couple later right after high school also. A few dogfights too.

This is another good one. The rooster sees the hawk approaching, goes in the hen house and calls the hen to come inside. The hen, now seeing the hawk approaching too, panics and repeatedly runs into a wall, allowing the hawk to get her. The rooster is then forced to go out and deal with him.

Went to a few with my buddy, he took 4 roosters to web county, the Larado area. He left there with 60,000 dollars.
