Always thought that Kenai Lake and the setting around it was one of the most beautiful places in the entire state. A good friend and neighbor broke his hip while ice boating on Kenai Lake a long time ago - hitting a small open lead at 45 miles per hour and getting thrown sideways through the side of your ice boat will do that!

Camp view from the Island been camping there for years

Camp like the Pomoly tent got cold enough to have a lot of skim ice between island and far shore 485 yards away with a propane heater with pilot light on quite comfortable, with good cots!

Great pics and great company. 👍. I was going to make a smart ass remark out of jealousy but then I see that you slept in a tent. I figured that’s enough punishment on my old back to not be too terribly jealous unless you got a posturepedic in there…. 😁

Good stuff Sir.

Beautiful.

We used to put in at primrose all the time and go camping up around the bend at that campsite. Never got bored with it.

The reason I know its 485 yards from camp on Island to shore we set up a 6 inch gong no one was around, bud said you cant hit from there hit it 3 times in a row off dialed SWFA. Pretty easy with a scope that tracks. Shot 2 rifles this WE sons 6.5 CM Ruger RAR with 6X SWFA first round hit at 300 yards rested off my knees. Was leary as scope showed 3.5 mils for zero, found a allen screw and set zero. 2nd rifle was my wifes 338 RCM RH
SS same target Redfield revolution 2X7 with circle dot, it to was right on, have had great luck with the first gen Redfield Revolutions. Has not changed zero in 3 years lot of wheeler and boat rides.

Good camp pic. Dude knows how to start a fire! Nix them strike-anywhere matches. Us old guys don't have the time or patience to find one that actually works.... Dang, I miss the old ones.

Our Cosna cabin and Caribou Hills (Lobo) cabin fire starters are propane torches similarly equipped. Strike anywhere match box resides above the wood stove at Cosna, on a wire rack (dries gloves, etc too) to stay warm and dry and strike on box for firing up the double mantle Colemans.

I've a third propane torch setup in the garage. If one is good, one everywhere is better. smile

For outdoor fires, a little gasoline or diesel doesn't hurt either, especially if one needs to fluff the fire or trim back heavy eyebrows (just brush the ash off).
