I know there’s few members here that were on btc back in the day. Anyhow, one of the great members since btc inception passed away, Chuck Tarver aka “muskrat”. Great man, career military, and lover of real Blacktail bucks, “western Oregon and Washington “ 🤣👊🏻

Had the pleasure of taking him huntin and makin meat, rip gristle. Godspeed

I was a lurker for a years and a member for short while just before the website imploded.

Is Chuck Tarver the hardcore blacktail hunter in a wheelchair? Made lots of videos?

I've forgotten the names of all the players but as I recall the forum died because of a major, hotly-tempered discussion regarding a wounded deer that fractured the online community.

Haven't looked at the site for years. Is it back now?

Man I have seen that site in years. When living in CA I was always on that site. Great stories and pictures of hunting Blacktails. I miss hunting those deer.

Serious blacktail hunters are the real deal. Wish I had known him.

The annual picture thread was a favorite. Awesome dark horned big old blacktail bucks.

Yes it was. Some of the bucks taken were truly amazing.

Most of where we hunted was lost in the Mendocino fire. I need to get back there and hunt in the next couple years as it grows back.

No that was Dan the site owner. I’ll have to dig some pics up. Site went to shiit 15 years ago or so, fell victim to over moderating. Anyhow, ya, no deer like a true Columbia Blacktail, period. 👊🏻

Years ago when I got my first computer, I mentioned to some guys I worked with...I got the computer, now what do I do with it? One of my 'friends' said hey you love blacktail hunting, there is a website, called Blacktail.com, you will love it. Well no deer, it was pictures of black tail porn...ok, no big deal, I think you just click on the x and it goes away...oh hell, it won't go away...it's 4:30 pm and the kids are walking up the road from the schoolbus stop...panic, click, click, poke, push...finally unplugged the goddam computer before the kids got in the house. Forgot about it until I got home the next day and the wife had fired up the computer... I had some 'splainin' to do. Anyway it was a good site once you got the address right.

Well this is a fine pickle we're in, should'a listened to Joe McCarthy and George Orwell I guess.
