Yep.
Years as a driver, a lot of times had no time.
The rest I was eating alone, so do the job at hand and move on.

Now, it's half the problem of eating too much.
I eat my supper, and the fambly is still eating.
So I sit there and converse, then eat a little, and repeat.
Lately, get up and start the dishes. Just to stop it.

I eat way to fast. I sometimes try to slow down, but I’ve made no progress in slowing.

As a kid grandpa said I could eat a steak dinner before grandma got her baked potato doctored up.

In 1st grade, if you cleaned your plate you got to line up to go to recess before the picky eaters were dismissed. It was a race between me and another kid everyday. I think that set the framework for me.

I also don’t chit chat when I’m eating. I’m simply eating. Wife gets all sorts of pissy about it. Not enjoying my food, etc. I certainly enjoy it. Just nibbling slowly on it would be a painful dinner.

Nope. It’s fairly common for me to be the last one eating, by a long ways. Even my brother will be done with his food way before me.

Nope. I like to taste my food and enjoy my meal. I don’t eat fast food or at crappy joints because food is one of the fine pleasures of life that we have to partake in lest we die. I’d rather go hungry and miss a meal than eat crap.

I only usually have 1 meal a day anyway and supplement my appetite with fruit and protein smoothies, healthy snacks and mid day charcuterie of meat and cheese.

Because I’ve been able to control my appetite and subsequent love of good food I’ve been able to maintain my weight while staying in good shape. At 51 I’m 6’2” and I bounce between 215-220# my vitals and labs are according to the doctor “abnormally normal”.

I eat slow and I chew my food completely…I think of meals as more than an end to the means. 😉

I’ll scarf down a Taco Bell chicken quesadilla once a quarter. Same as going to Walmart’s.

I do and have stomach problems from it. For 30+ years, 3 months give or take every year. I worked under ground in Nevada. 11:15 we could catch a train out to the portal and drive 2 miles to the chow hall. A military style affair. You had to get your food, chow down, and be back at the portal by 12:45 to catch a train back under ground. Miss it and it was a mile and half walk in. Which you had to make up the time at the end of the day, then miss the train back out, and get the long walk again.

The train cars were muck cars with wooden cribbing timbers as seat. Not very comfortable, but better than walking.

I never got over that stuffing food in as fast I could. I am done with a steak, potatoes, vegges, and desert by the time my wife has her salad eaten. Then I am off to find the Gaviscon

Eating too fast is not good for a person at all. I used to be terrible until my work offered an online program for weight loss for any employee that wanted to participate. It is very educational if you can get past the chick's voice in the online videos.

The basic principle is eat SLOW, chew everything completely and savor your food. I lost 44 lbs in < 6 months. You can still eat pretty much anything you want but limit sugar as much as you can.

I have since fallen back into the habit of eating too fast but have recently been trying to follow the principles again with noticeable results.

I used to think I ate fast. When I was still working, some of the guys went to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch. I ordered 10 traditional wings. Another guy ordered 18. By the time I finished 5 wings, he had devoured all 18. That’s a fast eater.

I chow down pretty quick.

Years ago I was eating lunch in a bar and a guy a few seats down asked where I served time and how long. I told him i had never been to jail. He apologized profusely and told me he had been to prison and said I ate like a guy who had. He said they all hover over their plates and inhale their food.

So apparently I eat like a convict.
