I finally shot my Marlin 1895 450 Marlin P.

WOW!

Any reloading advice

Stories

Words of wisdom appreciated.

Any meowing about it not being made ( manufactured) by an east coast shirt maker

Or some factory in Japan…….please abstain!

Thanks in advance.

What part of Idaho? I've got one in a Browning BLR. I'm needing to procure some dies but I have bullet moulds for it and will be casting up in the pannhandle.

Supercrew,

Pleas elaborate on why you say "OUTSTANDING caliber".
Thank you.

I had the Guide Gun in 450 M but my current Guide Gun is in 45-70. The 450M is the hard way to go about getting the same performance

To add to what I already said. The 450 Marlin is every bit as good as the 45-70. But no better. And brass is scarce and ammo is pricier

I got my 450 marlin 4 a lot less than I sold it’s 45/70 twin.

So I hope she evens out.

If you can get a 450M for a good price it's worth it. It's a solid cartridge. It got me my biggest Moose which was among the largest shot in NH that year

For single shots I prefer the rimmed 45-70 all day long. For modern rifle design like the BLR or bolt action the 450marlin is the winner. Ballistic twins pretty much.

If they were equally available and popular I'd prefer the 45-70 for my single shots and the 450marlin for more modern designs like my Browning BLR. I feel that the 450marlin actually addresses a few safety issues quite well and intelligently but it never took off. I wanted a takedown 45-70 but never wanted to pay the Wild West Guns tariff so my BLR takedown filled that niche.

I have a Ruger number one in 45/70.

So I thought the 450 marlin would be nice to load its own deal, no confusion.
