Sat on a the local chapter of the DU Banquet committee for a few years long time ago.
Getting people chit faced to run up auctions was my sub-comittee. This is DU's business model. It's very effective too. Beautiful Flirtatious Ladies, Donated Alcohol and Rich Alpha Males.

I flew back from Japan and interviewed at Microsoft all in 24 hours without sleep in 2000.
I woke up the next day with an email telling me I won an online auction for a Polish M44 rifle and a case of surplus ammo .....$150.

I was the attending veterinarian for a saddle Norse auction.
A horse went painfully slow from $10,000 to $23,000
Two bidders kinda deal.
The winner was so loaded they thought it was $2300!
The loser must’ve been even more impaired.
Instead re starting auction they accepted horse for $22,500.
