Thanks I do not have line on the reel but, with the spool locked and rotating the spool to simulate pulling line off the spool, the reel clicks. Hope that helps.

Several years ago the Japanese was buying all the old ambassadors on eBay.
I know I sent 4-5 to collectors over there.

I know I sent 4-5 to collectors over there. I had a couple presentation Ambassadeurs on Ebay and they went to Japan as collector grade reels. I have five other Ambassadeurs that I've dug out and will soon part with. Some are seldom seen and a couple NIB.

so it clicks but not supposed to? Im confused Me too. I guess I do not understand the "line out click" terminology or question. What I do know is that I bought this reel new in the late seventies. I also bought a couple of 5500C during the same timeframe. I mainly used the 5500's and the 5000 did not see much use. They have been stored ever since. The 5000C is for sale and as my original description line states "Excellent reel in great shape. $70 $65 shipped CONUS".

The anti reverse drag plate clicks as the drag is actuated, not an adverse thing. It is almost inaudible. That is a different click than a bait alarm which, the 5000C’s don’t have.
