Is Stan Trzoniec a regular here on the fire? He wrote an article that just came out on Wolfe Publishing entitled "Calhoon's Nifty .19" where he discussed the 19 Calhoon and the 19 Calhoon Hornet but failed to acknowledge or discuss the 19 Badger. I shoot the 19 Badger and think very highly of it.
Maybe he knows something about this I don't?

Don't think Stan is on the Campfire.

I did an article years ago about the .19 Calhoon cartridges for the now-defunct VARMINT HUNTER magazine. Eileen and I got to go on a "gopher" (Richardson's ground squirrel) shoot with Jim Calhoon and the late John Anderson, the editor of VH. It was a great trip!

I don't know any of the smart gunwriters on the fire . I think JB might agree 🙄

It's always better to be good-looking anyway.

I was wondering if Mr Phil was feeling any remorse for using that “high caliber” 9mm on that bear after his clients and if he had any pictures of the “lungs blown out of the body?”

Any particular reason to go with the .19 over the .17 or .20, except to keep Calhoon in single-barrel hooch and corn dogs? His ads mention longtime Pennnsylvania Game News writer Don Lewis as a fan.

I thought about one of his .19s after doing the gopher hunt with Calhoon--but that was a dozen years ago, and I already owned several .17 centerfires and a .204 Ruger. Plus, at the time Calhoon didn't offer any plastic-tipped bullets (he does now), and I'd long ago learned how much plastic-tips improve both expansion and BC in such smaller calibers.

They sure are fun and accurate, though!

The ballistics appealed to me. I still have 17's & 20's too. Besides, what's a rifle looney supposed to do if he gets an itch?

By the way John, I enjoyed your article on gopher rifles in the current issue of Rifle.

Thanks!

It was a fun project, partly because it was unexpected....

I want the backstory on that muscle man logo with the club on shoulder, token/'medallion mounted into the stock of his rifles?
