I have some gift cards for Cabelas and am looking for a rimfire scope. My intended use would be small game and some target shooting with a CZ 455. The one I am thinking of is the Leupold VX-Freedom 3x9 but I am open to others. What others would you suggest from Cabelas?

Burris Droptine 3-9, the rimfire model, or the 4.5-14 with adjustable parallax.

I have several 22 rimfires and have put cabelas pine ridge straight 4 power scopes on them all. No problems ever. Not sure if they still make that model.

What was the problem with your Burris scope?

I’ve run about six Fullfield models on guns up to a light .50 inline with nary a bobble. Can’t speak to the Chicom models. Fullfield 2, E1, and Droptines are made on U.S. machinery in the Philippines. Haven’t tried the Droptines personally, but have seen multiple positive comments here.

All my Burris scopes have adjusted as marked so far, even an old fixed 6 I just got, unlike single bias-spring models from You-Know-Who.

I don't own this particular model but they get real good reviews and the 4.5-14 is on sale for $112.

I have both and recommend them. The droptine has an independent magnification ring, allowing the use of flip up scope caps.

I've been competing in NRL22 matches since their inception 6 years ago. Attended 4 of the 5 national championship matches, having just returned from the championship near Iberia, MO. I placed 2nd in the OG (old guys) category. I've turned to Athlon optics. The past several years i've been very happy with the Midas Tac line. This year I went with the Cronus BTR Gen 2 and am sold on it's excellent glass, crisp dials and awesome reticle. The glass gave me an edge in the thick woods SE of Lake of the Ozarks where other competitors have some difficulty with less quality glass.

Went a little crazy on my Bergara 22 and put a Burris Signature 3-15x44 on it. Awesome rig........and what the heck, might as well have a very nice scope on the gun I shoot the most, right?

I've got three Leupold Freedom Rimfires, and four of the Burris Droptines, all 3-9s. The Leupolds are better for range scopes, the crosshairs are very, very fine, and could get lost in the squirrel woods. I think the Droptines are better hunting scopes, to be fair about it. The Leupolds have better glass and are brighter, but the Droptimes seem to hold zero a little better for me (all these are mounted on either CZ 452s or 455s, or a 512). I bought the Leupolds when they were still $199, but they've gone up in price by 50% since Covid, the Droptines are available for $129 most of the time at Natchez.

I just bought another 3-9x Droptine Rimfire today at Cabelas here in Twin Falls for $112. I own two others and have had zero issues with them. It will go on an early Marlin tube feed bolt action 22rf.

I appreciate the responses-I ended up with a Leupold Freedom. I had a couple of gift cards I had forgotten about and a few dollars in points on my credit card. I was out of pocket less than $35.00
