Simpson LTD in Galesburg, IL, is probably the largest importer of used guns from Sweden.

*** I am not recommending Simpson LTD, just reporting that they are a large importer. ***

Simpson LTD only has one Tikka combination gun listed on their site today, 06/01/22, a 77K in 222/12.

I think you would be far more pleased with a CZ that has two triggers and a safety than a Tikka with a hammer and a selector.. There are so many more advantages to triggers and a safety, main one instant selection of rifle or shotgun with out having to fiddle around with anything. Plus the fact if you want to scope it you can mount the scope low because you don't need to get your thumb under the scope to cock it.

I use combo guns and drillings to hunt coyotes quite a bit and reaching up to cock or change selector will put a coyote in high gear if he catches you doing it.

After the first shot the rest are just noise.

The Tikka Model 77K has double triggers, but they are hard to find. It is a much better gun than the cheaper, and easier to find CZ. The 77K is also a little heavier than the Tikka/Ithaca “Turkey Gun” and the barrels are an inch or so longer.

“Perfect” for me would have been the same weight and form factor as the “Turkey Gun”, it we can’t have it all, can we?!

I understand two triggers and a safety are probably better but I never had any issues with the single trigger and selecter I always kept it to rifle in most instances and if needed moved it to shotgun . I killed a lot of turkeys with them and never had any issues . Tikkas might be a little crude some might say but they are extremely accurate and well made in my opinion

I don’t think Tikkas are crude by any stretch of the imagination. Both of mine shoot like a bolt action rifle in the accuracy department (like a .222 should!)

I only bought the 77K because last Spring I found myself thinking “The only thing that could be improved on for my Turkey Gun was a double trigger” . . . And then I found the 77K.

This Valmet is a far better choice as a useful all around gun, IMO, but at $1,295.00 it's over priced by about $400.00. I've owned more than a few of these and traded up toward drillings, my drug of choice, but I never had one that didn't shoot little bugger-hole groups. The drawback is the 22HP ammo availability, however.

For the member who wants a 20/222 this combo with light loads would be a good second choice. The 20ga versions of the Tikka were not lighter than the 12 ga guns, no significant difference. These will also re-chamber to 3", which reduces the jolt of a HB 2 3'4" load with the former short forcing cone of the original. Scope mounts are the traditional SAKO dovetail type.

From 12/9,3X74R down to 12/222 every gun shot very accurately. I've used both SST and DT versions and have both. I like them equally for different types of hunting. If I'm bird hunting I prefer the SST, so the first pull is always the shotgun. I dead-centered a straight away on a francolin with a 9,3X74R using a DT gun.

Combination guns used for their purpose feel like cheating. wink

There are a BUNCH of Valmet and at least one Tikka combination guns coming up on Proxibid.com.

Most prices seem to starting at about $300, but some are more than a month away from auction day.

I would have to disagree about the Valmet. I've owned several and if you wish to keep one for any length of time and do any amount of shooting you need a spare for parts. The trigger mechanism is cheaply built and the quality just isn't there. You will find better quality in almost any other European combo including Baikal. I had a nice little Voere in 20 ga. over 222 but didn't care for the break lever also being the cocking lever. It had to be cocked for every shot so if you wanted a follow up shot with the shotgun after you fired the rifle it had to be cocked again. It was a delightful little gun but never bonded so off it went to a very nice gentlman who uses and appreciates it.
Now I have a Tikka in 12 ga. over 222 and a BRNO 7x57 over 12 ga. The BRNO's internals look like they were built by a watch maker and even being a bit heavier than a lot of other combos, it handles and shoots very well. If I were wanting a 20 ga. combo I would be looking for a Bailkal. I'm pretty sure they had quite a run of combos in 20 ga. with various calibers including 222. Good luck.

The Tikka is a Valmet made by Marocchi.

BRNOs are built like Rolex tanks inside. They're tough guns, but they're H E A V Y.

The Valmet was a popular model in Europe and also in America and it slowly evolved from the 412 to the 412S and then was bought out by Tikka rifle works with Sako in control and then became the Tikka 512 model. Finally, when production went to Italy it was part of the Finnclassic range.
Anyone with a Tikka 512 was made by Tikka.
