Been there before. Didn't fish. Not much of a pier guy..........

Was wondering about Tybee Creek. The "back river" as some call it. There's very little (none) info online that I can find. All I know is a local gal told me her brother catches blacktips there. I was hoping for trout or redfish or something a bit easier to deal with.

Anyone ever fish Tybee from the shore ??

I have no doubt. But I'm a freshwater guy and that's what type of rods and tackle I have. I'm not equipped for handling 5-6 foot fish.

I’m sure you can find some decent inshore. Stuff is biting a couple hours away at Jekyll

I have caught several small black tip. Standard freshwater gear will handle those.I have also had some big enough to take leader and all. Not sure if even good saltwater gear would have handled those.

Don't think I'd wanna be near there this weekend. If Ian is half as bad as they say, it's likely to kick some serious arse.... shocked

B-I-L in Apopka, north of Orlando, is concerned. They predicting up to three days of storm force winds and up to 20" of rain. May be a lesser storm by the time it hits the GA coast, but still could be packing a serious punch.

When you see Jim Cantore headed somewhere, it's time to be headed the other way. I think those Weather guys enjoy these storms way too much.

I was stationed there for awhile-- shoot me a PM and I'll send you some shoreline spots. If you can get a kayak it really opens things up-- have caught reds, trout, spanish-- more bonnetheads and sharpnose than black tips.
