I have used 168 NBT with great success in my 308 from coyotes to elk. Good bullet.

Mule Deer, my comment was strictly related to terminal ballistics and not an inference regarding accuracy; simply put, what I had seen was that the parallel walls of all the different bullet weight's bullets showed no difference in thickness - obviously that thickness will taper or diminish as it progresses toward the projectile nose, moreover that will occur more quickly in the lighter-weight bullets than in the heavy-weight bullets. My apologies for not being more clear.

No hunting experience with .308" 150 gr. Ballistic Tips but I have heard they work well on deer. I hope so; as they got substituted for 150 gr. FMJ's in my M-1 Garand for deer hunting. They shoot well with my normal G.I. equivalent load; just swapped the FMJ for a Ballistic Tip. One of my late uncles who had carried a Garand in WW2 thought it would be great for me to get a deer with the M-1. Never got one with it while he was still alive and now I'm thinking about trying it again this fall in memory of him. I’ve seen the pics of GIs hunting deer with the Garand in Belgium during the cold winter of ‘44-‘45. They look happy to be dragging out fresh venison!

Still shooting old 100 count boxes of 165s at deer.
If they are too soft, as many claim, I don't want the harder ones.
Deer die, quick.
Blood trails out toward 100 yards are very rare.
Damage is what one expects from a 308.
I think I have caught one, but really don't remember.

In fact, the only one I recovered after using them extensively in North America and Africa was one put into the right shoulder of a bull gemsbok that quartered strongly toward me at 150-175 yards. Gemsbok are about the size of a big cow or medium-sized bull elk, but have far tougher hide, and bigger shoulder bones. The bullet penetrated the shoulder and lower part of the spine, and was found under the hide of the left ham, retaining 60% of its weight. Good info as always. Thanks! Guy

I don’t know the answer to your question but for years I shot the 150BT in a 300 saum as my primary deer rifle. Killed like lightning near and far

i've got a grand sample of one instance with the 150 bt outta a tikka t3x in 308 win on a 170lb whitetail cull buck at around 100 yds broadside behind the shoulder. it left not 1 but 2 exit holes which lead me to believe that the cup and core separated. it was still a win but if a less than perfect shot who knows. i have since went to 165 bt's due to heavier build. i haven't shot one to eval yet tho.

I like 125 gr NBT in 300WM to keep the recoil down, but stops the deer right now.
