Hey all,

I have always wanted a 7.5" SAA, and since I recently picked up a 1926 Winchester 92 in .38 WCF it just made sense that my new revolver be chambered for that. So by the end of the week I should be stroking and fondling a 7.5" .38-40 Uberti; can't wait.

Anyhoo...
Are those easier to carry cross draw? Seems like a 7.5" would hang pretty low on the strong side making sitting while wearing holster/revolver very difficult.

Can anyone recommend a nice cross draw rig?

A buddy of mine just bought a Cimmarron .32/20 with a 7.5" barrel, I'll be watching this, as he is going to need one, also. After he gets the misfiring problem fixed with a new mainspring, of course.

Long barreled pistols I carry much better cross draw. Now, the holster has to be just so, and position the butt of the gun correctly for me, otherwise it don't work very well.

The '60 Army and '72 open top (and a 6 1/2" 624) do well in a cross draw holster for me.

Shorter guns don't do so well crossdraw for me... just the way that they have to balance and their position ain't quite right.

I've got one of those Ubertis. Mine's the reproduction of the 7th Cavalry revolver carried by Custer's troops at the last stand. Black powder frame, bullseye ejector thumb piece, all the right markings. Only difference is that, instead of having Sam Colt's address on the top of the barrel, it has the address of Cimarron Arms there.

Try Craft holsters.

I'd probably look to simply rugged for a crossdraw.

Milt Sparks Holsters 200AW crossdraw for a 7.5" single action.

This one being my Ruger Flattop .44 Magnum.

I find a good crossdraw holster almost a necessity with 6" or longer revolvers. Are those extended grips or did you fit a longer grip frame?

I like the Milt Sparks crossdraw holster. Don’t have a long barreled single action but with my 6 and 6 1/2” S&W revolvers it is a much better way to carry them I think. Out of the way when seated and easier to draw with the longer barreled handguns.
Here with my 25-5 but works with any N-frame to 6.5”

Man that’s slick. I need one of those for my 6 1/2” 38/44.

Sparks makes nice stuff no doubt, as does Barranti. I have a Freedom Arms cross draw for a 6" that I've found to be very comfortable.

Shove your new SAA behind your belt, cross draw, between the first & second belt loop & see what you think first. If ya like it, then spend yer hard earned bucks for proper leather.

Barranti Northwest Mountain Companion would be my choice. It has more can’t than a standard cross draw

I kind of like the EP Saddlery Threepersons crossdraw, myself.

With a crossdraw you can ride or drive. Works well

I like my El Paso Saddlery Slim Jim cross draw with my 5.5" barreled Ruger Bisley 45 Colt.

Not to mention drawing from under heavy clothing. I have a KC Custom Gunleather rig Kenneth made for a 6” or 6 1/2” 629 factory comp. He started making cross draws because of a mean dog. Had on coveralls working in his shop and walked out headed to his house. Some burley stray pretty much treed him. Had a 1911 on strong side under the coveralls more out of reach than he ever imagined. According to him after the dog left he went back in the shop and made his first cross. He strongly suggested one for the 629 and he was right. Unfortunately Kenneth has left us.
