I only remember eating them once.
What do they taste like, and how do you fix them?

I cook mine in a spicy tomato sauce or marinara . I eat them with some bread for lunch or over linguini for dinner.

Clam juice, white wine, butter, garlic and herbs (mostly parsley). And a nice loaf of crusty Italian bread or baguette for the juices. Mussels are good, but I prefer to use topneck clams.

I can eat my weight in mussels!!! I like them either in a red sauce or white wine sauce.
Have any of you had the green lipped mussels? I had them when I was in NZ, but I think they also have them on our west coast. They're huge!

Used to harvest them off the rocks in Bodega Bay at minus tide many decades ago. Make great bait for Poke Poling.

I get them in the frozen bag from Aldi. For 4.99 they are really good.

Onion, butter, garlic, finely chopped celery and white wine.
If you like basil you can add it to the above.
Red pepper flakes to taste.
As others have said crusty bread adds a great finishing touch.
If you like bell peppers fell free to add it as well.

Couple tablespoons chopped garlic and just enough water to steam. Simply superb ! Every batch gets an additional tbs. of garlic.
Same recipe for steamed clams.
