I want to put a red dot on a 10/22 to be a just-for-fun kids’ plinking gun. Distances out to 50 yards. What have you guys used that you like?

Have a sig romeo5 that has bounced around on a few different guns. No frills, nothing fancy. But the thing just works

Bushnell TRS-25. Might be one of if not the best quality red dot for the money, around $65, sometimes less. Works well on my Mini 14. 223 recoil hasn't effected it so should be fine on a 10-22. They've been around a while and have lot of good reviews and videos.

I’m going to get one of those Bushnells on order.

I have Primary Arms 2 MOA Red Dots on a couple of 10/22's I use for Steel Challenge. They work well and cost around $150 when I got them. In bright sunlight they are not quite as bright as some of the more expensive options with larger dots, but they still work fine for me.

I'm a Romeo 5 Slut and must have (10) or more. Never a bobble or an issue. Hint.

Used a Millett SP1 on several guns for years. Cheap, but they worked. Lots of pigs would testify to that point, but they’re dead.

They are useful, but they do have limitations. A small dot is your friend, bright sunlight ain’t.

I ordered a Sig Romeo 7s ($99) and a Bushnell TRS-125 ($69) from Palmetto. I’ll try them on my 10/22 to see how the mounts work. And maybe on an AR plinker.

And then will try a Romeo 5 also

I bought 5 of the Bushnell TRS-25's when I found them on sale for $55 with free shipping. Bushnell had a $40 rebate on them at the time, with a maximum of 5.

For $15, they've been great.

For Steel Challenge, I run a C-More RTS-2 on my Black Mamba and a C-More Railway on my Volquartsen Ultra-Lite.

I'm also a big fan of the Holosun 507C and 510G.

There's never been a better time for red / green dots!

I run a Riton Tactix 3 on my 10/22 takedown. Since the rifle mostly sits in a daypack and behind the seat in truck or trailer my experience with it is very limited, but so far, so good. It doesn't break the bank and comes equipped with a quick-release set-up. I like it!

I've got almost a bazillion rounds on a Sig Romeo 5 on a 10/22, before that it was on a S&W 15-22 in the tall mount and now that same dot rides on an AR-15 in 5.56 but in a DD mount, probably the best value out there in a red dot.

Where the limited ER isn’t an issue, I’ve come to prefer a prism over a red dot, as the etched reticle is more precise, and can be focused. Where weight and size don’t matter, an LPVO w/illumination works better for me than either of the others. The view through a good one is amazing.

Precision = scope, speed = red dot. Either is a compromise when forced into each others niche.

I just mounted one on one of my 10/22's. Looking forward to playing with it.

My son started out with a Tasco on a stainless 10/22. Never received any Aimpoint-type abuse, but served perfectly for plinking.

That gun now wears an old stock R1 Micro. We use it for youth groups, also for pests around the barn.

Vortex, Romeo & Holosun are on my to-buy list, but for the moment, my son will get used to iron sights on the 10/22.

Bought my girls an American Rimfire Muddy Girl, pulled the dot
off my turkey gun and stuck it on the 22. Figured they would love
it, being less experienced, the younger one occasionally struggled
with field of view issues in a scope.

Went to the range shooting clay birds at 25-50 yards, and none of us liked
It. The girls ask me to get a normal scope.

That’s unusual from what I’ve seen with new shooters. How did it work for you on your shotgun?
