Matt Sorry, no finished knives on hand in those patterns. Maybe some 24HR customers have pics of either or both to share. I might have pic in cell phone that I could text you, but will have to check. Thanks Tim

I might add that I have a limited amount of S35VN blanks and sheet stock on hand and at this time no definite plans to buy more steel, so there could possibly be a pattern that I could not fill at this time. Just depends on orders. Thanks Tim

A sheet of S35VN is now ordered. Will be a while getting steel, cutting out blanks, surface grinding the mill finish off, cleaning up profiles before I can drill and grind blades. Then heat treat. Be a while, but I have a couple blades from previous run that I can fill a couple orders sooner with. I will be in touch when time gets here. Thanks Tim

Got a batch of 36 blades ready to queue up for heat treat. As noted before, I use BOS Heat Treat. They do a very good job. They are attached to Buck Knives and have treated all their blades for eons. Thanks Tim

GWB No problem. Want applied finger guard or a finger notch instead???? Thanks Tim
PS: My bad on the readability of my patterns, but the Bully Bob is a #1 it just looks like a 7.

BTW, Here is a "Thank you Sir" as well as a shameless plug and shout-out! I have approached 3 makers to take on this project. A copy of a Knives of Alaska "Muskrat" with modifications. Tim was gracious enough to give it a try and boy did he hit it out of the park. S35Vn steel and buffalo horn. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/Mlgr5Zh.png) razor sharp for +/- 180degrees. ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/8AaFs5s.png) ought to make a swell "caper". ya! Snowwolfe OK, you are in.
But guys, I have already sent this batch of blades for heat treat so there is a limit to how many extra blades there are for this run over what was spoken for.
Next run will be probably next year.
Thanks Tim

fredjake1 That is a Michigan Slim and I should have an extra blade for you.
Pattern shown is the standard model, but also do some with a slight drop point.
PM coming your way. Thanks Tim

Looks like I built enough extra blades in this batch to meet all requests (unless I missed someone).
Hard to second guess the late comers, but sometimes it all comes together.
I would expect deliveries of this build to be in Sept and Oct.
I do not expect to do another batch in this calendar year. Maybe next spring. I will still have some blanks and some sheet stock left for that if and when.
Thanks Tim

That Michigan Slim with a dropped point looks like a very useful design. I'm not sure how many I ended up using it on last year. Some just field dressing, some all the way from first cut to freezer. It's a handy pattern. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/gallery/80/full/177137.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://www.24hourcampfire.com/ubbthreads/gallery/80/full/180442.jpg)

I love it. I seem to get back in line as soon as he finishes them. That pattern gets used at least weekly in the kitchen and I liked it on the few deer I used it on this summer. I can’t say enough good things about them.

I have 3 of Tim's knives with a fourth on the way. 1 M4, 1 CPM154, 1 S35VN, with another S35VN on order. I REALLY like the hardening and temper of the S35VN. I've used the hell out of it since I got it last winter and have yet to sharpen it. I'll post a picture of them once #4 gets here.
Hoping that Tim does another batch of S35VN next year.

Thanks again Tim, this knife is perfect. The blade length is just right for dressing a deer or pig and the handle feels great and looks fantastic. It is just right!

Although I personally prefer the Michigan Slim Original pattern with the straight spine, seems
most customers are leaning towards wanting a slight drop point to them. But both are handy.

Hey Tim, my brother finally opened his BBQ restaurant in Holland, "Holy Smokers BBQ" on 8th st. If you stop in to try his amazing BBQ, be sure to ask for Kyle, and let him know we're friends!

I am ready to see it! Feel free to post a picture of it here if you wish to let the others see it, Tim.
I will be up sometime this next Summer to help my brother out for a while. I will be running one of his BBQ trailers at various festivals and such, July through September 10. When I get up that way, we'll have lunch one day at the restaurant!

Well I got to field test one of my Bobs in S35VN on a deer yesterday. Damned that thing performed excellent. I think it was the quickest field dress job I have ever done. Split the rib cage really well. But no pics so it did not happen?

Tim, so glad you had a chance to get out a do some hunting this year! I was going to try and come up for the opener myself, but things just didn't work out. I'd say next year, but it depends on how things go in Wyoming on our Elk hunt.

This year there were almost no shooting within hearing range for the opener and usually it sounds like a war zone. ???????

Tim called that one the "Snub Nose". I got it back in 2017. It did great skinning Antelope and it worked well the other day on a Florida Whitetail buck. Blade is right at 2 1/2 inches of D2 steel, with butterscotch Micarta.

And I think that was the one and only "Snub Nose" ever. Might have been one more???

Thar Snub nose is a great pattern Tim, and would be great in that S35N. I did not realize it was a limited addition.

Blade is right at 2 1/2 inches of D2 steel, with butterscotch Micarta. Looks like it would work well as a small skinner. I used a dropped Slim on a lot of deer last year and used it Saturday on the first one this year. I have to cross a state line so I can only bring meat and horns back. I do a gutless method, skinning and taking all the meat, so it's not just field dressing. The little knife hasn't been sharpened yet and it's still walking through them. Seems to be holding the edge very, very well.

I do not think I have a copy of the original pattern, but I may consider doing a couple whenever I do another batch. Sounds like 3 are spoken for so...????
There are several patterns I do/have done that began as customer inspired knives or just were inspired by the band saw and grinder and where they took me.
Anyhow, thanks guys and for those still waiting, I am on the down hill side of finishing up this last set of orders. Thanks Tim

Sounds like I will need to do a batch in 2023 and incorporate the Snub Nose into the line up with 5 spoken for already.
PS: the handle material like on the Mannlicher knife is all gone.
Thanks Tim
Sam----What is the oal of that knife???

Tim If you do another run of the S35V, I would like one of the Michigan Slim knives but with the original design, not with the drop point.

Tim I’m blown away again. I’ll buy a different pattern in your next batch. My two knives from you are the best steel I own. I’ll be a customer until you chose to stop making them. Broke my newest from this fall’s batch in on our Thanksgiving Turkey. Sharpest knife I own. https://imgur.com/gallery/5cLUSv6

This picture shows the long and the short of my Olt knives. lol ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/LEuJVqo.jpg) Funny story. I had recently bought a custom knife from a friend. It was an O-1 tool steel camp/chopper that was 12” long and what I thought was a big knife. I bring it on a 24hrcampfire hunt/camp out and Sam is there doing camp stuff using that sword he calls a knife 😂. He lets me look over and handle the blade from this Tim Olt guy 🤦🏼♂️ I had never seen any of his work before. It made my 12” chopper feel like a filet knife! The quality of the steel and edge made me pay attention enough to mark down that I needed to get one of this Olt fella’s products. Fast forward to last year and I get my first, just got my second this fall and want more.

As this build is winding down I can really use a break from building knives.
I will be working on a 2023 build soon. Gonna focus mostly on the patterns that have been selling well, but will have at least a couple of each of the other patterns shown at the start of this thread.
I think I will add some of Sam's small knife the Snub Nose since I have 5 spoken for already.
I also am considering a small Semi Skinner pattern as I have that also spoken for.
Sometime in near future (maybe January) I will start a new thread for the 2023 build. I will be using CPM S35VN steel again.
Thanks for all the business so far and feel free to keep posting on this thread, especially if you have bloody pics or stories to share. Thanks Tim

Just got these in from Tim Olt. Have not had the pleasure of breaking them in yet, ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/NMu6mVH.png) Big Slicer, Michigan Slim (drop point) and Bully Bob! ![[Linked Image from i.imgur.com]](https://i.imgur.com/COpbaEo.png) The Buffalo horn on the Big Slicer is exquisite. The Rosewood burl on the two smaller knives lend them toward making a sweet combo! Thanx, Tim Olt. ya! GWB

405wcf Can you also do a Muskrat like geedubya's? --- If you are talking about that round nose knife I made GW awhile back, Not in a hurry to do that again. A real pain to grind.
Tim, have you ever considered trying something like the Grohmann #2 Bird and Trout? --Made something similar a while back, but nothing similar lately. Maybe one somewhere down the road.
I will put you on the list for a 5" Boner.
Thanks Tim

Something that may be helpful to everyone who's snatched up any of these S35VN Blades.
I got one early last year and used hell out of it for almost a year now. Each and every time I was finished I got out the Lansky block with the grey sticks in the 20 degree holes. I pull the blade through once and only once full length, moderate pressure on each side.
So far it has left me with that wonderful, toothy, razor sharp edge that it came with and I think is just a characteristic of S35VN. The second one that I've only had for a couple months but in that time it has also seen very heavy use. Same routine, one pass and one pass only 20 degrees and it is back to that toothy edge that is so perfect for cleaning quarters of membrane and clots and makes it slice like a banshee.
I've never had a knife before that was such an easy keeper. I have never had S35VN before though either. I haven't tried carving rocks with either one yet, but both have been used heavily enough that they became noticeable less sharp, Both knives react identically. One is a slightly longer version of the Michigan slim, the larger one is about twice the cutting length of a Slim blade and more like a conventional boning knife.
I have a slim ordered with Tim, and from as handy as my slightly larger Slim is all these new orders for Slims are going to make a lot of people very happy, myself, not least.

Finally had a chance to use the boning knife I ordered. Very impressed. Thin enough to allow me to get the backstraps out easily yet had enough muscle to use anywhere else. After finishing one deer the blade could easily shave hair off my arm. Money will spent.
My biggest fear is when I die my wife will sell my guns for what I told her they cost.
